Pollard doesnt know how to hire a coach. He got lucky with Fred since he was the only one that wanted that job at the time.
Art Briles, Brian Kelly, and Harbaugh all wanted the job and JP freaking hires Chizic.

But at the time the Chizic hire seemed good. Hind sight is always 20/20 my friend :)

I have been a big advocate for Darrel Bevell from Seattle, and for some reason he keeps getting passed for NFL jobs. Maybe he would come to Ames?:twitcy:

The better question is who the hell would want to come here?

There's a lot of attractive here. Facilities, and a fan base eager to support the team and coaches. Money, it's a Big 12 job. I think JP is a huge strength, a guy who knows the business. Yeah, yeah, the Chizik and CPR hires, but CPR's hands are handcuffed to an extent by ISU's poor tradition. ISU is a good job in many ways.

Who at the time was one of the biggest names out there in the coaching pool. Hiring Chizik was seen as quite the coop. No one could have guessed how ****** he actually was.

Don't try to be a revisionist, it's annoying.

Jim McElwain, Rod Carey and Doc Holliday for realistic choices.

If we do make a change, I'd like to go with a current G5 coach as well. I think McElwain would be the first call JP should make. He's done a great job turning around a real mess at CSU.

Another name is Justin Fuente. He was the OC at TCU during their great run before they joined the Big 12, and is doing well at Memphis this season. Probably not enough experience yet, though.

Central Iowa
Chris Kliemen
Craig Bohl

Both would be cheap options. Both do more with less.

Craig Bohl and its not even close.....Bohl might just be the ONLY realistic CHEAP head coaching choice available.

No conference wins this year and we add onto the stadium for what? Make room for more eiu fans?

Chizik was unproven head coach. All the other canidates were GREAT head coaches.
Just think how bad JP is at making coaching hires when he hires the worst of the 4.
Several of us were begging for Harbaugh.

If I were a coach looking for a head coaching job, I wouldn't come close to Ames, Iowa. It is a black hole that I wouldn't get near.
