This is where we seem to disagree. B
oth halves count the same. Did you know Iowa won the 2nd half of the Rose Bowl? But the 1st half we lost by 30, so we lost the game.

Uthoff's 1st half performance alone was better than any other Iowa or Iowa State player's performance over the whole course of the game, at least statistically speaking.

Well not really. Morris had 20 points and 9 assists which accounts for more points than Uthoff in the game and he made the winning plays in that game. So statistically he wasn't the best player and he wasn't the best player with the game on the line either

So let's see if we can summarize. ISU fans think Niang is better, Iowa fans think Uthoff is better. Wow, I never would have imagined that.

On a related note if you asked New York and Boston fans whether Ted Williams or Mickey Mantle was better, my wild guess would be that Boston fans would pick Williams and New York fans would pick Mantle.

There sure is a lot of backtracking going on now. So apparently, the only qualification you have for the "best player performance " in a game is points scored even if it is in only one half. A player can disappear for a half, help to screw up the end and miss the final key shot, and still have the best performance in the game just because he scored the most points. Got it. I don't believe that, but I understand.

It's not the same because Iowa still got killed in the Rose Bowl and ISU won

Okay, so now I know exactly the type of person that I'm working with. I think I'll save my logic for someone who can handle it. I miss CyTwins already

Rankings don't mean squat (see this year's top ten) and metrics, well, are for people who just look for another reason to make themselves feel better about about a loss.....Play on the floor trumps them both....

With your reasoning, Iowa State should have never lost a game at the beginning of the year....

Uthoff: 32 points on 60% shooting, 9 reb, 1 ast, 1 TO, 1 steal, 4 blocks
Morris: 20 points on 52% shooting, 2 reb, 9 ast, 1 TO, 2 steals, 0 blocks

Statistically, Uthoff was the best player.

Help to screw up the end? What does that even mean? That's just gibberish you made up.

Beyond the obvious that Niang is a better overall player than Uthoff this thread has proved one thing: There are bunch of "Iowa Hawkeye Trolls" polluting the airways that can't handle the fact that ISU once again defeated their "dream team". And let's not forget the Hawkeye Chief Troller in charge non other than coach Fran McCaffery. Every time national media talks to him about their record without fail he has to mention the ISU game...as if to imply they are a better team. He sports his media troll boner over this game and can't seem to get over it.

Jok isn't in the same hemisphere as McKay. McKay was 3rd team all conference last year and is averaging 13.5 pts and 9.2 boards this year but yeah he's overrated. You're an idiot

Cool. Jok will be 2nd team all-conference this year. What's your point? McKay has virtually no skill set and his game is based entirely off athleticism. He's a very good rebounder and is good at catching alley-oops. He's a decent weak side shot blocker, but a very average defender in all other senses. He's a terrible free throw shooter and turns the ball over a ton for a post. He's a stronger, more athletic Melsahn Basabe (without the development of a semblance of a jump shot).

Based on what? You showed the statistics and Morris was better

He CAN be a good rebounder. He only had 3 against Texas and they lost. I actually think McKay has regressed from last year while Jok has stepped his game up a notch.

He's still better than Jok. You're a complete homer if you think otherwise.

The Basabe comparison is horrible too. Basabe was two inches shorter, averaged 7 pts 5 boards and only blocked 26 shots his entire senior season

He averages 13.5 ppg and 9.2 boards per game. He's blocking less shots this season otherwise his numbers are up from last year
