So then who the heck do you want? Since your telling us who we shouldn't hire, lets hear someone from you who we should.

You didn't read my post, which stated I didn't want to throw him off the search list, only wanted more discussion on his three season 15-22 record.

Ok, OK .....I'm on the Gill bandwagon - one season with 5 losses and Gill is the next Nick Saban.....Go Jamie - offer him $2 million + $1 more than what Cheesestick is getting at Auburn and ISU will be in a January bowl in three years guaranteed!
I know you just jumped on the bandwagon but i went and looked up buffalos record for the four years prior to Gill... 2002- 1 win, 2003- 1 win, 2004- 2 wins, 2005- 1 win. Pretty impressive turnaround huh?

But we don't have: Temple, ARmy, Ohio, Miami OH, or Akron on the schedule. GEt it?

Kind of like saying that West Des Moines Valley HS football team sucks because they didn't play any of the tough teams from the Big 12 South.

You are the third person that seems to struggle READING. I bold the 8-5 the year after, when our schedule is about 30x harder then next years. :wideeyed:

Sorry, they don't learn us engineers how to read good.. But yes I may have jumped the gun and typed before my brain could catch up. Two years from now will be VERY tough, but we do need to get a good coach in now and keep him if we don't want to go 0-12 in two year.

They were a bad program when he took over. Some say he will look at ISU because he didnt get much of a look by his buddy Tom O for the Nebraska job last year. Others say he wont come because of his love for Nebraska and Tom O. Who knows but by everything I have read he seem to be a great guy and a good coach.

who do you think had a more impressive season: 12-1 Ball State, or 8-5 Buffalo?
Buffalo no doubt... coming from being the WORST team in FBS to being a conference champion in 3 years. more impressive.... i still applaud Brady Hoke for what he did, but he had the luxury of Nate Davis, one of the top 5 QB's in the nation

That doesnt really matter because Ball States coach is no longer on the market... Turner Gill is on the market and he has proven that he can bring a program up from the bottom. We finished in the Bottom of the Big 12 so its only appropriate that we find someone who has the confidence and coaching ability to do that.

Sounds like a proven coach who not only recruits, but can develop players.

Maybe Gill has the same talent, maybe not, but I'd feel more comfortable at making an assessment if there were a couple more seasons under his tutelage.

I don't really see why we are still talking about Ball State. Chirp Chirp it's bird time. Buff turned out to be the better team.

You think we can lure Hoke out of his newly signed deal with SDSU?

I don't think we should be going after coaches that just signed new deals with new schools.

While we're at it, Auburn has a nice new coach that I'm sure would love to come work here...he had a great record, is loved by the fans....and we have all these coins. :jimlad:

Not trying to pick a fight - let's just throw some discussion points out - like you said Hoke is not on the market, so that point is moot.

Suppose Buffalo goes back to a couple of losing seasons after this year with Gill? We've only seen one successful season - Suppose you are JP - are you comfortable giving a $1MM, 5-year contract based on that data? I guess you are....I'm not there...yet..

Also, How will you feel about Gill if UConn pounds them like a veal cutlet in the bowl game?

The very fact that he was able to turn the program around is enough for me...what matters is that he took them to a bowl game at all...I would be thrilled he could do anything close to that here.

If I follow your logic, you are suggesting that we should hire Urban Meyer. After all, 12-1 Florida had a more impressive season than either Ball State or Buffalo. :goofy:
