Probably the same question here, but I have about 300 feet from my back deck to a fire pit. My wifi signal works out to the end of my deck, then drops. Any suggestions for extending to the fire pit? Again...about 300 feet (maybe a little more) and 100% outdoor/exposed. No trees to worry about.

EDIT: I should mention I'm an idiot when it comes to this stuff.

Put the fire pit on the deck.

There are access points that are made for outdoor usage that you could mount to the outside of your house.

Access points from Ubiquiti.

These are definitely the higher end, though from what i've seen not having a built in router and using PoE for power might be a bit more advanced than some would do.

See...this is what I meant when I said I was an idiot with this stuff. I looked up the Ubiquiti AP Outdoor. Looks like a walkie talkie. Even watched a couple videos on how to set one up. I can't believe all I need is the outdoor thing itself, or is that it as long as I have a wireless modem. Do I need a router too? Do I need more cords, or does everything I need come with the thing?

Remember...I'm a moron here.

Yeah, from what i can tell the APs are purely that, just access points. You need another standalone router. Theyre not exactly a beginner product.

Ubiquiti has a more 'consumer' line of products in its AmpliFi setup (which is what i'm leaning towards when i upgrade wifi), but i dont know that they have an outdoor product in their lineup yet. Its probably what i'm going to get.

Sorry to bring this up again, but what does a person need to run/install an extender access point?

Router? I assume modem doesn't do the trick, but don't know.

Ethernet cord long enough to connect?

Software to configure?

Anything else?

Router and AP is all you'll need but I would try to get the same brand. With that said, if I was you I'd skip this and but one of the mesh units, which is a lot easier and more reliable to run.
