Yes.

Playoffs.
ah so why do you even follow the Iowa State regular season?

I'm pretty sure no team has competed in the playoffs or won the championship outside of a few teams with top-ten annual recruiting classes

since we have little-to-no chance at winning in the playoffs, I guess none of our games "matter?"

I prefer to prepare our young guys for the future. Thats my opinion. It's alright if you have a different one.

there's no difference between the "liberty bowl" and "fiesta bowl" -- it's literally just sponsors and locations

I guess if players feel better playing for tostitos rather than meineke car care lol

and the playoff is just alabama vs. georgia vs. ohio state vs. first round exit every year -- i.e. blue blood who's cheating in recruiting and matchups that maximize tv eyeballs chosen from a committee of "experts"

ohio state passes the "eye test" despite playing like 5 regular season games

best win? worst loss? best strength of schedule? conference championship? lol no let's do the "eye test"

sorry for the rant - I just don't understand sitting out bowl games or the theory that they matter less than any other game

If you can't see the difference between a **** tier bowl like the cheezit.com bowl and a bowl with actual history I don't know what to tell you.

liberty bowl has longer history then the fiesta bowl -- there is literally no difference except the sponsor and location

the silver chip trophy from tostitos has so much more meaning then the golden cheez-it trophy

it's all about marketing and matchups

If I'm an advisor to future NFL players. I'd advise Eni, Rose, Kolar and McDonald to sit out. All are either banging up or are known and proven NFL talent. Hard to say a big showing in the Texas Bowl helps their draft stock.

However, the type of player CMC recruits and the program he runs. I doubt we ever see mass sit outs for a bowl game.

As a fan, I'd love to see the future get a ton of run time against TCU and in the bowl game. Start the seniors. But give the 2022 starts so meaningful minutes to really motivate them thru what is likely to be a pivotal off season

anyway I guess my argument is that the bowl game matters just as much as any other game, so I think it's arbitrary decision to decide to quit that game if you're trying to preserve draft stock

you should quit far earlier in the season and/or not even play the season if it's all about not getting injured

Will be fascinating to see ISU fan turnout in Memphis and compare it to 2012 and 2017. No doubt in my mind it will be less, but how much less is the question.

If we end up in Houston or in Phoenix on a baseball field that will be a harder comparison.

Go ahead and dumb it down. Meanwhile, the disease across the state is 9 and 2 and going to a top tier bowl. We barely beat UNI and let Iowa gang bang us. Enjoy the Jiffy Lube Bowl.
It is amazing this guy hasn’t been banned yet.

If we have a player opt out, I’ll be disappointed, but I will understand. I hope if they opt out, they are at least a first round draft pick. That drought needs to die.

The whole sit out/meaningless game thing is extremely interesting and is quite the slippery slope.

If this bowl game is meaningless was the Fiesta meaningless too?

If the bowl game is meaningless is the TCU game meaningless too?

Once eliminated from CFP/CCG contention are all games after that meaningless?

I don’t blame anyone for sitting out and protecting themselves but as a fan of the game I don’t like it because selfishly I want the most competitive bowl games possible with the best talent available.

This exhibition game non sense came from Iowa fans last year bc ISU made a NY6 bowl game for first time ever...Then suddenly it's an exhibition game for first time in modern college football era? ********..

Not to bash on you CW bc I love you..lol...but on radio CW and Blum saying "Exhibition" doesnt help.

Playing "Longwood" in bball is an exhibition that does not count for record...Playing Oregon in Fiesta bowl is not even in same category.

These kids practice for 3 weeks and practice for 3 weeks preparing for 1 game..

We've had 50 years+ of college football bowl games and suddenly they are all "exhibitions"?

How hell would you feel as a player who worked butt off all year and you get rewarded with a bowl game, trophies, rings, gifts etc.. and fans and media start calling it just an "Exhibition"...

Ridiculous.

A bowl game is an exhibition. I could care less if it is the Fiesta or the Liberty. You have bought hook line and sinker into the ESPN marketing hype.

What has changed? It's the money man. If you are Breece Hall would you risk an NFL payday coming in 5 months for the opportunity to hold the Liberty bowl trophy? Same with the other guys with injury histories. They need to prepare for the Senior Bowl where they get to practice and work with NFL coaches. That is more important to THEIR futures then 3 weeks of practice with our team.

And as a former player I would tell the guys who have an opportunity to get PAID to do what they needed to do to live the dream we all had playing football as kids. Trust me, none of the players are getting upset by people on a message board calling a bowl game an exhibition.

I don't think spoiled. Senior heavy team with firmly entrenched coaching staff. It's just basic expectations. Team didn't deliver.
We all know how much you deserved for them to deliver for you. Sorry they were so selfish and denied you your rightly expected season outcome.
