Honest question but what would you have wanted Manning to do differently last year? IMO Brock having happy feet was probably our achilles heel last ear. That and having multiple o-lineman playing out of position.
I need to go back and rewatch games, but my main issue with Manning is he refuses to make adjustments and instead sticks to a game plan for way too long. The big games where this was prevalent was Baylor, TTU and Iowa. So many times it was easy to guess what play was coming because at times we were incredibly predictable. With the generational talent we had on the field there really was no reason to underachieve. Another big gripe I have with Manning is he absolutely refused to let Purdy run the ball. IMO, that alone would have opened up a ton for our offense

This isn’t to say that you’re wrong, as Brock was pretty disappointing at times and the line play was mostly god awful, but I don’t think Manning necessarily put him in a good position too often.

Also, for the love of God could we just go under center on third and inches?

Pretty warped to think that's funny.
If you expect us to look aggressive and sharp in game 1, you haven't been watching this program. We'll look completely unprepared, bumbling, have a vanilla game plan, our fans will say we're "saving it for Iowa", and then we'll do the same **** in Iowa City the next week, but toss in 3 or 4 totally unforced turnovers and Iowa will win 28-3 with 50 yards of total offense.

I don't think any of us have any clue what Dekkers will play like or what the offense will focus on. it's all just pure speculation.

The only thing we DO know for sure is that they will run the ball a lot, because that is what CMC wants, that's what they always do.

My guess is they will call more runs for Dekkers than they did for Purdy (similar to LanRam concepts) though not as many as LanRam.

The passing game, who knows.

for some reason our passing game was easy to defend, the route trees were to congested or at the same level. In that case, Brock had to go with his best bet and throw to a bigger body like Kolar that can screen off close defenders

So would you take a $500.00 bet if i gave you 12 points?

Yes.

Since 2017 we've gone 2-2 in opening games, and our average MOV against FCS opponents in that time frame is 4 points.

4. *******. Points. Against. FCS. Competition.

Do you know what our average MOV against Texas is in the same time frame? 9.3

Why would you think that is funny? We lost a lot but we have talent. We will be somewhat conservative. I look for Dekkers to use his legs more. X will hopefully have a great year. Manning is not Messingham.

it was a horrible feeling to watch us struggle offensively against UNI last year. But after the game we told ourselves that it was conservative game plan and we didn't want to show Iowa anything. Iowa had us well scouted, had players in position to take the ball away. And of course they had superior special teams. We moved the ball well in the 4rth, but the game was already decided.

I'll take your lack of a confirmation as a no.

If there's one knock to be made on CMC and Manning it's that they get sucked into playing Iowa's game every damn year. We try to out Iowa, Iowa and it backfires every single time. I wish we would just spread them out and just chip away at them like Purdue does. Eventually that opens up the homerun ball once the safeties start to cheat up.

I think that is true, when we had a gun slinger in Park, he was able to pick them apart in 2017. But we did not have the defense then. The next year, we could only muster 3 points against them.

starting petition for randy P to ask campbell today what the offense is going to look like.

plz sign

i imagine something like:
"matt you lose your all american running back, 4 year starter at qb and 2 very valuable tight ends.. are you guys planning on having an offense this year?"
Maybe you are right, but that question doesn't seem to ramble nearly enough.

:p

I'm in a quandry whether to "dislike", "agree" or "sad" this post...
