I will say that they might have made the call the best they could with the tools they had available. That does not make it the right call, no matter how slowly you say it.

If the ref(s) made the call based on the horn being his(their) only source of knowing if time was left then it was the correct call.

The ref was in a position that the only thing they could use was the horn. If the horn sounded after they perceived he released the ball it's the correct call.

The presence of video/photo/light on backboard are irrelevant because the ref was not able to use that to make the call. All three methods are available to allow the refs to attempt to make the correct call.

Like I said, it may have been the best call they could make, but it wasn't the correct one.

If he made it based on the horn sounding after the release it was the correct call by the ref. The indicator the ref was able to use (in this case a horn) was sounded after the shot.

How can it be correct if the shot was late? Either it's wrong because the shot was late or it's correct because it was on time.

Put it this way...even if the clock read 0.00 and the backboard light was on for four seconds before the horn sounded(exaggerating to make point) if ref was watching players shot but listening for horn then that is the indicator he has to use to make the call.

Because the light and clock are irrelevant if the ref isn't watching that during the shot.

Dude I said he made the best call he could, but that doesn't mean it was the right call.

1. Did the horn sound after the release? Yes
2. Was the ref using the horn as his only indicator? Yes

To me it's the correct call. What we see in video and photo is irrelevant. Ref was using the horn.

Horn, clock and light are not in sync at WFA.

How do you know it is the wrong call did the clock read 0 for sure maybe the light went off before the clock went to 0 and the horn went off at the correct time

You can see the clock and lights and hear the horn in the video, none of them make me think he got it off in time.

Maybe the people who are still having a hard time with the outcome the other night need to get together and take a long, hot shower. Because from the sounds of it....this win has made you feel very dirty.

I feel great about the win. One bad call at the end had the same impact on the game as several other bad calls did.

Frankly I'm shocked anybody would argue for it being the right call. I'm shocked some people can't just say we got a lucky one there and let it go. That's the only reason why I am just fascinated with this thread.

First, please know that I come in peace. Second, I know this horse died a long time ago, but I’m going to beat it one more time today.

I ask that you play along with me in a hypothetical situation. I admit this analogy is a bit of a stretch, but please indulge me.

Imagine that you’re a policeman sitting in your car eating donuts when you hear the dispatcher report that a robbery has just taken place at the convenience store just down the street. The dispatcher gives a detailed description of the suspect. After wiping the powdered sugar from your uniform, you look up and notice a man running down the sidewalk carrying a bag who fits the description perfectly.

You jump out of your car, draw your gun, and apprehend the man. After you get him down to the police station, you find that the person who really robbed the store was arrested by another cop as he was driving away in the opposite direction from you.

Did you “make the wrong call†when you arrested the suspect who fit the description perfectly? After all, it was later determined that this person was really innocent. Well, I know at least two people who say you blew it. However, I’m among the group of people who say you made the correct call based on all the information that was available to you at the time.

The referees said they had no choice but to go by the sound of the horn at the end of the game, and all three say the shot counted because the horn went off after the ball was released. The fact that it was later determined the clock had expired before the ball was released doesn’t mean that the refs “blew the callâ€.

P.S. Since I started this thread, I’m going to officially declare it dead at 7pm tonight when we tip off against Kennesaw. This game can’t come soon enough!
