it also would be a nice way to grab national attention right back on us after being embarrassed for losing cael. also a nice way to remind everyone that they were both cyclones first. would also give gable a shot at competing directly against the man that put a tarnish on his record.

Does anyone really think that JP would consider Gable?

I want Gable back in Ames. I want ISU to dominate and end this crap. I want to run scores up and not apologize, so yes I want the legend to return. I am that pissed.

Two years ago, I would have said no way, but due to past events, I think it is time to just go for the wins. Face it, college sports has become a win at all costs proposition, so let's get the winning part down and worry about how we are perceived later.

Gable in Ames would be rested, motivated, and angry. His teams would be going for points until the whistle blew every match. We need that fire back in Ames. We need to quit being good losers.

ISU is an elite wrestling program. Let's start acting like one.

The only problem is his age of 60, not sure how much stream is left in the pipe. That is why I am thinking interim.

bobby douglas will be the interim coach

Everyone seemed weirded out today including Douglas, you could tell by the interviews. I am guessing he was wondering what he was doing with Cael at ISU, I know Cael talks to him but thought that would be in private somewhere. I am not sure Bobby has great admiration for Pollard after he was sort of forced to retire in 2006 plus I think he is a few years older than Gable.

That could be, if so it would be easy for him & the school to have him coach this next year.
I would LOVE to have Bobby as the coach again. How do u think this will affect our current wrestlers? Anyone going to leave? What about our recruiting situation? I know we signed some big recruits.

Someone else probably has better insight than me, but I would say good with the seniors since he was there when they were recruited (year before except those reshirts), sounds like it starts with Z since he is staying per interview, lock down Varner and Reader. Cyler is probably gone, the rest I don't know. Per recruits, it could be tougher except those from Iowa, again lock them down make them feel comfortable, Bobby can do that. I am glad he didn't leave Ames. I guess I thought he felt rushed to retire, per what I had heard.

No. A thousand times no. This is not 1973...

And we laugh when Iowa fans say things like "If Ferentz leaves we can get Bob Stoops", or "I bet we have a shot at getting Bruce Pearle back"!?!?!?!

Geesh. Come on people. If you want to bring up names to replace Sanderson, get real.

I would welcome Gable back and think he just might be intrigued with who we have coming back to give it a shot for a few years.

If Gable would consider then I'd say go for it. The odds of two extremes happening (Cael leaving and Gable coming home) would be crazy. I would say it's more likely Terry Brands would come here. However I did see the interview on KCCI last night with Gable and I would say he was completely caught off guard. There was a hint of intrigue, but I think it was just because he was not anticipating the question.

As far as Bobby - In my opinion no thanks as interm or fulltime coach. He helped recruit the seniors, but that also included Cael as an assistant. During his time we struggled to compete in the big 12 and were not even close in the national championship hunt.

I'm anti - Douglas and Bono. Their style is boring. The people talking about Douglas and Bono seem to have a short memory or did not watch any wrestling during their years coaching... Yes Bobby had national champions on the team and brought Cael here, but as a team it was hard to watch.
