Hansen and Sama started the year as nearly identical RBs. Good straight line speed (they ran 10.85 and 10.84 100m in HS, respectively), ran physically, not a lot of elusiveness, and both really struggled when to bounce it and when to cut it up the first few games. Both guys left a lot of yards on the table making bad reads. The difference is Hansen figured it out after a few games. Both guys need to be a one cut and get your ass upfield backs. Hansen did it and had success. Sama can do it too, but he’s got to get decisive.
Respectfully if they were the same back then they would run them the same way. Sama is typically given the ball without momentum. Hansen started getting more power I style hand offs and short pitches and they worked very well for me. Idk if Abu is more suited for zone style run schemes or if he doesn't have good enough ball security but I think him running zone is a big reason he gets stopped behind the line so much. He does try to extend plays too much and loses yards trying to bounce. I won't minimize that tendency.

I didn't think that Sama really had ball security issues until the ASU game. Those fumbles were the main reason why it wasn't competitive. Better fix that or he's not going to see more than change of pace carries.

That's a good point. There must be something the staff sees as different. I'm not sure if it's difference in style, or if they think the slower developing plays like the RO give Sama more time for a hole to develop. Not sure. But generally I think they are both straight line guys that run physically.

I definitely think they both should be straight line guys, but I think Abu would work better with counter action or like a speed option to the weak side of the field which Mouse did once last year to my extreme elation. I just am not sure we have the horses on the line to run zone effectively without a really good back like Breece to make up for the line. When we ran straight power scheme last year we made hay. I hope that is recognized.
