I have personally gone to every game this year but 2 and I made sure that those two games I sold my ticket to someone who would use it. Thats what needs to happen.
Consider it done. Look for it next game.I will donate to any student that makes a bighead of this... Great article, and the students deserve it. I think ISU has to stop selling the all-sports pass if they are selling it still. Or not include MBB anymore.
Great article!
The real problem in all of this is that you had tons of empty seats and no way for families or cheapskates to get into the games (without selling a limb to do so.) I took my family of four to the Tech game, spent $180 for the single game and saw hundreds (thousands?) of empty seats all over upper ends. So I've got to pay a premium dollar amount just to get into the game only to see tons of empty seats? Seats the AD could have sold to me and my family for a hell of a lot cheaper than $180?
That is what sucks in all of this. And to the guy that keeps posting that nothing is going to change...might want to follow JP on twitter. **** is very much going to change by the tone of some of his posts. Not to mention the alumni base is going to grill him all spring/summer about it.
Oh, ok. I thought they said they were all nerds and mamas babies who don't do basketball, sex, and substance abuse. I guess it is the attack they ones who go to basketball for being nerds approach.
Again, much of it seems to be people who wish they were still students or want to grab the seats at a cheap non-donor level. Multiple students and student fees have paid for the seats several times over.
Totally agree...that's what stinks. Every seat was paid for that was empty, but no one in them. And I know that the AD always has to balance the people that pay big bucks with desire to fill (meaning, if you give them too cheap, you devalue their investment, etc).
It is too bad more people didn't just give their tickets away to someone who wanted to be at the game.
I wouldn't be surprised if something changes in regards to student tickets. The brand is hot...so JP could sell some of the upper deck tickets to new season ticket holders. The math could all work out (oversell? mini-packages? attendance points?)
AHHHH, good problems to have.![]()
Only way to get bball is through the all sports pack.Question:
How much do students pay to sit in those seats?
Somehow seems odd to post an article ripping students and encouraging them to engage in more casual sex and substance imbibing, while later mentioning the tragic death of a student of an overdose.
You know what they say about absolutes100% agree with this article. Our current students are a complete disgrace.

Here's a sorry piece of information....
The student section at the University of Iowa can be as large as 4,000. Over 3600 were sold this year and they have not had a student "shortage" yet this year.
Are the Students at Iowa more supportive of their BB team than the students at ISU? Ouch...it hurt to write that.

Iowa State began overselling student tickets two years ago after the student section rarely reached 50 percent capacity for the majority of games. The student section at Hilton Coliseum has a capacity of 2,500 and Iowa State oversells that total, selling 3,500 student tickets for men’s basketball. Per the policy, students who were not admitted will receive a full refund for the face value of the game ticket (they have to show up at the gate). With 1,000 empty seats, only 1,500 student are showing up.

Not a huge fan of this idea. The types of fans would just sell their tickets to non-KU games and then get guaranteed seats for KU. The people who actually go should be priority over these types. Here are the steps I would implement. Football, from my view is fine. So here's what we do:
-Sell tickets for the same amount as you normally would
-Provide "points" to students to use as a discount or priority for the following year. Points are given for attendance and for being in the stadium by scheduled kickoff/tip. The thing here is you could still get your points if you make sure to give the ticket to someone willing to go. It doesn't matter if you transfer it, the buyer of the original ticket still gets their points.
-After football, those points are totaled and you have priority for getting into the big games. There should be a cutoff at about the top 1000 of total points where they are guaranteed a seat for basketball games. You then accrue points during the basketball season in the same manor and that leads to your discount/ priority for the following year
