I think a lot of people on here are not being honest about how much our players jaw on defense, especially after letting up a first down. I'm always shocked to see one guy in particular hooting and hollering after making a tackle 10+ yards down field.

Haha... or taunting after completely missing the previous 5 tackles.

This is Jeremiah George to a T! Pisses me off how much he does this and jaw/celebrating making a tackle after blowing two or three.

Jawing? Every team does that, mostly pumping themselves and their team up. Taunting is different, but still not a big deal. The issue was the outside of play bs and cheap-shots during play.

Testifying
FWIW- I probably have an idealized sense of Iowans and our good sportsmanship. Many (most?) of our players are not from Iowa I know, but I'd be embarrassed for ISU if our players were doing that sort of thing. Maybe they do and I just don't see it. Youngsters, it doesn't matter how good you think you are at football, you don't have license to act like a *******. Thanks to the team and coaches for your hard work and dedication this year. Win or lose, I trust you'll represent all of us Cyclones with class in the bowl game.

As good as LJ was at ISU and is now with the Bucs, I was irate at some of his personal foul 15 yarders towards the end of last season. I wanted him to be benched because of his behavior.
Benton was a close second on some questionable decision making.

First, my hat is off to the ISU fans for providing a great gameday atmosphere on a cold thanksgiving weekend. ISU played very hard. They lost a very close, hardfought battle with a desperate team. One who needed a 6th win to be bowl eligible. ISU had the misfortune of being the 1st big12 team to face shawne alston our best and only big rb. Been hurt since game 2.

WVU has not been heavily penalized this year. And certainly not for blatant dumb personal fouls. I think our ng's hands to the olineman's face is just something that happens. I dont think that was a vicious personal foul. Dline use their hands all the time. in fact the head slap used to be legal, but it obviously isnt anymore. but HOF de's like deacon Jones and Reggie white made a living actually hitting guys in the side of the head which hurt much worse.

But there is no excuse for the 1st penalty, but WVU has not had many dumb penalties this year. helmet to helmet hits are not "dirty" hits, just not legal anymore. They happen. and as someone said they are still legal when tackling a rb i think.

Taunting is something some of the WVU players do. shrug. When you have lost 5 straight games it is better to have a chip on your shoulder and still compete then hang up your spikes. I played de in college-and i didnt taunt. But i think it is just a cultural thing depending on where some of the players hail from. WVU recruits Florida heavily, and if you have ever watched any of the big 3 florida teams-they all taunt.

DH and Stew run pretty clean program from what ive seen. if you think ISU was cheapshotted or taunted, youve never played VT or WVU under RROD when we had pacman and chris henry. Pacman would put your qb over the bleachers 10 yards out of bounds and laugh about it. Chris henry would defender guarding him the middle finger after a td catch.

Pacman was 1st defensive player taken in draft, chris henry was a unique NFL talent who was his own worst enemy.
RROD did zero to reign in his guys and WVU truly was a lot like VT and Miami in those days.

The facemask incident was isolated and rare under DH. And that really was the only blatant thing i saw.
DH said in his postgame that 11 penalties was out of character and way too many and he would need to see film and address them. but he said he just wanted to focus on the positives after getting his 1st win since oct 4. later in week, i am sure the wva press will bring the penalties back up for clarification.

Good post, congrats on the win. Nothing beats traveling to a road game and getting the W.

Good post but you'd better get the word out ... You are not in a thug east coast conference anymore. Act with class or get a bad rep ... Hope your teams and fan base figure it out fast.

My disgust with WVU started with TheDudeofWV. It continued watching Geno act like an entitled jerk and Tavon's "fake but I have no intention of actually running" kneel down.

Look forward to building a rivalry with these guys.

Think this is the second post about this in this thread. I don't see a problem with it. Happens all the time in the NFL. Guys like Harvin and Hester do it several times a season. Also keeps the coverage team going instead of pulling up early. Don't really see how it's "cocky."

The fans on our WVU board that went to the game were very positive about their experience in Ames. They say without question you were very hospitable and were the best. I had hoped to be at the game with the Jared Barnett family, but couldn't make it. Thanks for tailgate offers. I know that I missed a great opportunity to visit with you.

I think I have lost all the respect for the team and some of their fans. I had high hopes for them coming into this conference. They did a good job of losing my respect for them in a very short amount of time.

Two of their fans in front of us were obnoxious. Stood in front of a little kid cursing. It is one thing to cheer for your team, another to turn to the opposing crowd, flip the bird and curse. Lots of people in our section moved to the student section.

Geno is a ******* *******. Completely classless. I really wanted someone to completely smack his *** on the end around. Kind of like.. GTF outta my way you cocky little *****

Now I want him to play long enough in the NFL to get smacked around by Clay Mathews and many others.

WV fans were nice enough. We had a few get into our section. They weren't obnoxious at all. Interestingly, they left just before the Austin TD.

Before half-time, a few high school coaches who get to roam around the field during warm-ups were commenting on how class-less the WV stars were. Then, Geno proved it at halftime.
