I was watching Two Guys and they were discussing how we got the new I State logo. A comment mentioned that there was a fan vote and that's how we ended up with our current logo. I had no idea that this had occurred until today! This made me think, if we were to hold a vote today. Which would you vote for?

Parking selection?

I've been bad about keeping my inbox cleared, but last check, we still haven't gotten the "you will pick parking on..." email. I'd bet that the ongoing Cy-Town construction has thrown a wrench in the usual flow of things? Anyone else getting nervous about the reduction of spaces in one of the last "the way tailgating used to be" seasons???

Hayward WI

Wife and I are headed up there this weekend to do some mountain biking. Have only been through briefly, never really spent any time there, and was wondering if anyone here had some must-stops, restaurant/bar recs, etc. It seems to me that whole area is full of middle of nowhere dives that are fun to drink at and have really good food. Figured there would be some posters who are familiar with the area and could give some more complete info/thoughts.

WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Thought I'd start a thread for things not ISU team so our general Cyclone season thread doesn't get sidetracked. I know there are a couple of fans that watch outside of our team.

Looking at future opponents.

The Jennie B. Sooners are 6-1 and beat #9 Oregon and Minnesota in a neutral court setting to win a tourney in the Bahamas. Play Mississippi State in the Big 12/SEC thingies on Saturday. Miss State is not ranked. Was just a few years back they were 37-2 and in the champ game against ND. Vic Schaefer leaving and his replacement resigning after just a year seems to have left them as a middling SEC team.

Iowa, after missing three games against quality opponents due to their COVID hiatus, got thumped at Duke last night. They didn't win a single quarter. Clark, a career 41% from three, was 1-13. They play Michigan State at IC on Sunday before coming to Ames. Haven't seen them play but so far they don't seem to be playing even close to their level of last year.

2024-25 Big 12 Rosters

Post any news you have about Big 12 players.

Oklahoma and Texas have been removed.

Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado, and Utah have been added.

Here is the link to view the roster of every Big 12 team.

2024-25 ISU FB Early Predictions and Offseason Discussion

Thought I'd get a new thread rolling now that people are starting to digest who's coming and going, what the schedule looks like, etc. A lot of teams return key pieces on offense with very little turnover in skill positions from this past season. Will that be enough to keep relatively status-quo? What team will surprise?

The first "Too Early" Big 12 Power Rankings I've seen...

  1. Arizona
  2. Oklahoma State
  3. Utah
  4. Kansas
  5. West Virginia
  6. Kansas State
  7. Iowa State
  8. TCU
  9. Texas Tech
  10. UCF
  11. Colorado
  12. BYU
  13. Baylor
  14. Arizona State
  15. Houston
  16. Cincinnati

Summer Thread: The decline of the sedan

Anyone else bummed that the auto industry is pivoting away from sedans in recent years?

I was reading today that Genesis is ending the G70 line. I've owned two of them, as daily drivers, and they're honestly my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. It seems like every other day I'm reading about a different manufacturer cancelling a sedan line.

Dodge Charger
Chrysler 300
Kia Stinger
Nissan Maxima
Nissan Altima
Mercedes A class
And quite a few others.

Don't get me wrong, I get it. I'm in the minority. The masses prefer SUVs, crossovers and trucks, and the manufacturers have to produce for demand, but boy do I prefer the look and feel of a sedan. Toyota and Honda have the Camry and Accord, which seem to be doing okay. And the German brands don't seem to be ready to give up yet, but there's not a lot of variety out there in that space.

***General Cycling Thread***

A year ago I would have told you you were nuts. My fiance would go ride while I was playing golf and that seemed like a really good setup. Here we are, a year later, with multiple friends already taking the hobby on and now I'm pretty convinced I should. So, first thing is the bike. I would like something that is good enough that it helps me like the sport, but my budget is probably in the $1500 range with the idea that if I truly like doing it and do it enough, I'll upgrade quickly if I want to. The brands most accessible to me are Trek, Cannondale, and Specialized. Anybody have any pieces of advice or knowledge for me as I equip myself?
