I shared this site earlier this week and thought I would update.

According to stiffarmtrophy.com (site has guessed the last 7 Heismans) they are projecting Mark Ingram to win.

I really hope that NS wins since the award is suppose to go to the "most outstanding player" not the most valuable player.

I have hated how the pundits have said that "NS should win the trophy but he wont so I voted for MI or TG or whoever."-- Well if you would have voted for NS maybe he would win..........

Not only is the award absurd, the way the figure it out is as well.
When the guy with the most first place votes doesn't finish in first place, perhaps you should re-examine the system.

Especially when that guys is the most dominant player at his position in decades, and the likely winner is a mediocre running back on a really good team.

Nailed it this year. Mediocre quarterback on a really good team would sum it up most years.

Gerhart avg rushing vs ranked teams 200 yds. Suh at times single handedly kept nebraska in games. Those should be the top 2 based on what they did vs the best this year. Remember no Alabama player has ever won the Heisman. There are 3 regions that don't have a canidate in this year be interesting seeing the break down. I guess some of the southern published ballots have left Ingram off completely.

You think Ingram is mediocre? Have you not watched him play? Great balance and toughness. SEC is a great defensive conference and his OL is almost all new from last year.

Gerhart would get my vote, followed by Suh. Teebow shouldn't be in the Top 5 candidates in my opinion as there were several other outstanding seasons by players that don't have the same level of talent around them that should be before TT.

Last year Tebow had the most first place votes and didn't win it because he was left off a bunch of ballots. Im wondering if that may not come back into play this year.

Alabama kept right on ticking with or without him. He failed to get to 100 yards in 5 games this year, including a near loss at Auburn where he only rushed for 30 yards on 16 attempts, and a near loss at Tennessee where he was held to 99 yards on 18 attempts.

He's a solid running back, but far and away the most "meh" of all the choices on the ballot, IMO. If Alabama wasn't undefeated (i.e. had lost to, say, Auburn or Tennessee), Ingram isn't even in the conversation, IMO.

Traditionally the Heisman candidates are just the QB's and RB's for the top few teams, rarely are they the best players of the year. Gerhart had probably the best offensive season of those on the list and Suh the best defensive season (only defensive player of course) but that means squat in the world of politics that is the Heisman process.

And I agree, Ingram would look pretty pedestrian playing for most teams - not to mention he looked pedestrian several times this season (i.e. against Auburn).

Strongly disagree. He is much more deserving than Tebow and even McCoy. In his 5 games vs rated teams he went:

Ole Miss 188 yards 1 TD
Florida 189 yards 3 TD's
LSU 174 yards
South Car 269 yards 1 TD (they were ranked at the time)
Va Tech 185 yards 2 TD's

Those defense are WAY better than the defenses that Gerhart had to rush against

The thing that will help ingram is that while he was knocked out of the Auburn game most ballotts were held on to until after championship week I think and the fact that Tebow and McCoy looked as bad as they did offsets that loss a little. Gerhart gets hurt in the fact that he plays out west and no one sees him because they hosted ND this year if that game would have been in South Bend then he would most likely be the favorite.
