While I agree AP poll is generally a somewhat meaningless popularity contest - with voters often blindly giving blue-bloods preference.

In this case , however, I would say it holds more than normal weight.

Since ISU is not a blue blood, getting the general sportswriter's attention and respect enough to vote ISU into the top 4, even MORE says to me that we got shafted by the committee.

We were off of everybody’s radar until the big 12 tournament. ISU gained a lot of street cred in Kansas City.
