This was a favorite of mine. I think they started earlier though. I seem to remember having lunch and a couple beers and then going to my labor Econ class.Springtime FAC, 3 to 5 on the terrace at the MU with live music was better than the bar scene imho.
Around 90. Before that (or I could have them flipped) it was out by the keg shop/McDonald’s on west Lincoln. When was Wallaby's up by the Mall? Are you thinking of Diamond Dave's? Seems like everybody had a bartender friend there.
That was wallaby’s at one point. Then okoboji.Diamond Dave's was in the parking lot where the Walgreens now sits.
Corner pocketI had no money to go to the bars in the early 90s. Think I went to Cy's once in 4 years.
Only place I probably went multiple times was the pool hall downtown, whatever that was called at the time.
Did have a Whiskey River/BJ's Hitchin' Post combo one night though...
Was doing Karoke there the night of the big 1993 flood! Had to leave as water poured in!Anyone remember the FOX Lounge? It was a cool place to hang.

Wallaby’s was never in the mall parking lot. It was always in West Ames in the HyVee lot until they moved to their current location in Somerset. That was wallaby’s at one point. Then okoboji.
It was Country Kitchen before Okoboji. That was wallaby’s at one point. Then okoboji.
Before i scrolled all the way through the post i was sure this was a reference to Curves...
I also observed the same. It hit a point where I just ended up at Cafe B for a few shots of Starry Night and an inappropriate amount of Long Islands. If able from there it was either up to Welch Ave Station by way of a Super Dog or Paddys by way of the gyroman. On occasion a fishbowl or two at Element was the starter for the night.Capones had a nice semester run then I don’t know what happened.

I don’t remember country kitchen, but know there was something there for about a year before okoboji grill. Country kitchen may have been the one before the roughly one year stint that was in it. I drove that route from fall of 90 to fall of 94.It was Country Kitchen before Okoboji.
