CW mentioned on the Sunday night pod that Williams and ISU are "not a fit"

He expects a commitment from Jackson Paveletzke

There was mention of a third kid, who Kyle Green has known for awhile... Any investigative journalists out there?
I was thinking someone from the MVC since he said a kid Green had known for some time. Domask?

Nice. Was hoping for that exact situation. Just didn't see Williams as the addition this team needed right now. Pav would be great.

Really? Williams is 6’6”, 210#, has a decent handle, rebounds the hell out of the ball, shot 36% from 3 point range and is the reigning freshman of the year in a decent MWC.

I would’ve loved Williams but the guy were after (and supposedly likely to land) is 6’6” with a good handle, shot it at 38% from 3 and will have two years to play.

Three schollies will probably go to:
Keshon Gilbert from UNLV
Jackson Paveletzke from Wofford
Curtis Jones from Buffalo
If this is correct, I would love this. Curtis Jones is an absolute flame thrower. 37% for the volume of shots he takes from 3 is great. Can create his own shot. All 3 of these guys improve our offense so much vs the last couple seasons

All true and Williams would have been a versatile piece but he's probably best at small/stretch PF and ISU has Omaha, Watson, Milian and King that deserve minutes there. Willams may have wanted 30min a game and that wasn't going to happen this year at ISU.
SG/PG is a much more critical need especially considering Holmes/Grill/Kalcheur moving on.

Would be very happy with those 3 additions.

Gilbert - CG who seems to be a confident ball handler. Can create, and an effective shooter.
Pav - badly needed pure shooter. Seems to be able to create a bit as well.
Jones - statistically a Gabe replacement as a shooter (Jones 75-209 from 3, Gabe 73-206). Seems to be able to create more though, and much more confident with the ball in his hands. Similar defensive stats too.

Not to mention they can all make free throws!!!!
Each were >= 78% which would've made them our top 3 FT shooters by % last year. Love to see that improve.

Not Domask. Kid is from Minneapolis so that’s his connection to Green

From page 1 of this thread... Clarence O. Daniels II from New Hamspshire.. 6'6" 225# Wing guard, 38.5% shooter from deep, HIGH level rebounder, and dropped 34 against Boston College

Three schollies will probably go to:
Keshon Gilbert from UNLV
Jackson Paveletzke from Wofford

Mr Jones looks like a NICE piece. 6'5" 180# combo guard, 35% 3 point shooter (over 6 attempts/game!), 75% from the charity stripe.. He and Pav on the same roster would REALLY stretch out a defense.

Didn't sound like it from BB & CW's conversation on NIL. They mentioned a big like Osun would probably be out of ISU's NIL price range this spring and the kid was a strong culture guy/defender.

A guy from UNI that Green would know is Austin Phyfe. Not sure he has a desire to continue with college hoops career. He was a solid player early in career, but has dealt with long covid and blood clots for the last couple years. He could get another medical redshirt.

Agree here.. On paper, Williams was the best prospect from the weekend.. I don't think it was close TBH..
Meh agree to disagree. Don't doubt he's a good prospect, but this team needs guys who can put the ball in the basket NOW. He would've been a nice piece next year, but he's not going to go from the MWC to Big 12 and start scoring drastically more...

In watching the videos on Gilbert he seems more aggressive in driving to the hoop. I would also say he's longer and more athletic. Seems like a good fit for us alongside Lipsey.
I doubt Gilbert will be as good defensively as Gabe but he’s a better ball handler, playmaker, finisher, and distributor. Idk if Gilbert will be a better three point shooter than Gabe was last year but I doubt he’ll be as bad as Gabe was for three collegiate years.

during the conference season, teams changed their defense on Gabe to force him off the three point line and make him drive to the basket, which he was not great at. That is when it seemed his offense dipped a bit.

We don't necessarily need great shooters but we need some guys who can create some offense. Having guys that can create their own shot will hopefully help reduce some of those lulls on offense.
