KU @ KSU on Big Monday

After getting Staten-ed in Morgantown last week, and outlasting TCU at home on Saturday, the Jayhawks invade the Little Apple for a Big Monday matchup that could loom large in the 2015 Big 12 MBB race. If ISU is to catch KU, the Jayhawks will need to lose one they should not. What better place than @ KSU? And what better time than with a young team on the road with 2 days rest?

After an enigmatic non-conference season, and sub .500 conference record to date, post season dreams have faded for KSU, barring a late season turnaround. In a foul mood following a blowout loss in Waco, and recovering from some damaging suspensions to key players, are the Purple Kitties overdue to start their late season breakout? Can they rise up and punch Big Bro's big yellow beak? KU rarely loses in Manhattan. I get that. In Big Monday tradition, I see this one going down to the buzzer.

KSU is still dangerous. They are very bipolar. Remember that this KSU team swept OU.

They very well could beat KU. And they could beat us.

KSU would like nothing better than to help someone other than KU win the league. That said, I just don't see it happening.

Unfortunately KSU will play us way tougher than they play KU. Even the year KSU shared the title with them they couldn't beat KU.

I'm thinking OU beats KU but maybe it's a coin toss.

You guys do realize this is just a rivalry in name only, right? KU has won something like 27 of the last 30 in Manhattan and 16 of the last 19 overall. Even the KSU team that tied for the league title a couple years ago lost to KU 3 times. Purple Kansas wets their pants at the mere sight of KU even when they are good, and this year's purple Kansas isn't even decent. KU wins this easily, and the second half isn't even interesting.

Yep. Expect a far more motivated and confident team vs ISU down there than the one that wets itself against KU.

This. If KSU had a decent team, like last year, this might be a close game. KSU sucks, and will probably lose out. I still struggle to understand how in the world they beat OU once, let alone twice.

In the Big 12 anything is possible. KSU has shown, at times, that they can defend and score when at full strength. They are not real deep, and only have a couple of guys that are scorers.

Is Foster out of the doghouse and in a starting role? I haven't heard much about him lately.

This is like picking between the Japanese Imperial Army and the Wehrmacht as to who you would rather attack and occupy your village.

The answer for that is actually pretty easy. Take the wehrmacht every time, the japanese army was far more brutal.

The above commentary is a bit hyperbolic. It's 3-4 the last seven in MHK. (What's ISU the last 7 in Ames?) K-State generally plays the squawks close in Manhattan, even when the Cats were truly bad. K-University has actually pulled a couple out of their rears down here for victories. It depends on the first 5 mins of each half. If State holds their own, it will go to the end. This team is mentally weak. That's why they won't handle early runs. The Octagon will be rockin' if close. But don't hold your breath, and certainly don't bet the farm.

KU's last four trips to Manhattan:

Win by 3 (OT)
Win by 4
Win by 6
Loss by 16

My guess is K-State will make a game of it, enough to give us some hope, but KU gets the win.
