Did he say that there are no speakers? What big-name band can perform without speakers? How does that even work for an electric guitar?
Sounds like it has a ton of speakers, but "hidden" throughout the entire shell rather than coming from a single point/plane like a normal show.

The 157,000 ultra-directional speakers will surround the audience, but they will only be heard and not seen, since they’ll be hidden inside the venue walls and behind the video display. As for the low end and really deep bass, those powerful sound waves will be coming from right beneath everyone’s feet. Instead of sending the bass waves through the air, they’ll be transmitted up through the floor, where attendees will feel the incredible vibrations through their feet and in their chairs. The speaker system comes from a Germany company named Holoplot, who specialize in targeted sound with the hopes of giving each seating section its own unique sound.

It’s set up to be a massive failure besides the cool visual effects. U2 hasn’t sold out a single show yet. No other artists have signed up because they don’t want the visual effects to take away from their music. The 45min movie slated for it is $70 and the U2 is $500.

MSG actually spun it off into its own company they’ve lost so much money on it.

It’s cool as hell but will be a money pit for whoever tries to take it on
We are going to two shows, one in general admission near the stage and one on the third level so we can experience it from two places. If you've never been to a U2 concert you may think they're corny, or hate Bono, or whatever, but it's an experience unlike anything else. They're not my favorite band but they're my favorite concert "production" by a mile.

To suggest they're not sold out is interesting. Ticketmaster sold out every single show and the only available tickets are from scalpers, just like every other big concert.
