So Achtung Baby is tied, with War, as my favorite U2 album. I was wanting to go to hear the entire album live but was underwhlemed with how some of the songs sounded on the videos I've seen. I LOVE Zoo Station, easily a top 10 U2 song for me, but wasn't overly impressed with how it sounded.

I'm on the fence now about ponying up. I saw the 2011 stadium tour, in the sweltering StL heat, where they played like 5 Achtung songs on the set list. I then saw the Joshua Tree tour, an album I'm not overly fond of, and was extremely impressed with how much better the live versions sounded.

Should I go? I like hearing it from the perspective of someone who went. I'm also curious where your seats were as I thought the 200-300 hundred level would give the best combo of sound and visuals in the sphere.

Thanks in advance.

Went last week. Sound is a lot better in person. Must be something with the sound system that phones are not able to record well.

Where were your seats if you don't mind me asking?

It's up to you, of course. Bono is like 60 years old so he's not running around during Streets like he used to. Also, odd that there was no Disqoteche or anything from Pop or Zooropa as those songs seem to want this technology. The first half of the show was way more "immersive" with the screen than the second half.

I bought tickets at face value in the 300s and about $500 for GA, and they are differente experience but i think 100 or 200 center is your best bet for a single show. Truthfully, I'm a little shy to tell you to go or not because if you don't like it I don't want to be held responsible!

Haha, I would hardly hold you responsible. All I can do is try to get reliable information then make the best decision based on expectations and price.

I just want my Achtung Baby songs to sound like they are supposed to...if they **** around with them too much I would be disappointed. I will say, in looking at the rest of the setlist, I think it's crap. I like Elevation and some of their more "recent" hits, but the way they completely neglect War, excluding the occasional Sunday Bloody Sunday and News Years Day stuff is somewhat infuriating. Seconds, Surrender, and my favorite U2 song, Two Hearts Beat as One (Kevorkian mix specifically) are such good songs and they literally haven't been played in 40 years.

They definitely erred on the setlist, IMO>

If they would ever play this song (Two Hearts Beat As One), in this particular format, I would go nuts. I love how the piano is used to play the baseline rift around the 4:15 mark.

Huge fan of a lot of 80s extended mixes/12" singles and this ranks as one of my faves.

So, with all these videos going on, does it take away from the live concert going on? It feels like it would be better for a DJ or something where you’d have recorded music with a video that went along with it. I guess if I went to see a live performance, I want to watch the performance not a screen.

Is this really much more distracting than the ultra-produced shows that fill arenas these days anyways?

Like it or not, but to compete with the top forms of entertainment out there over-stimulation is going to do much better than keeping it simple.

With the new dates added, I think you should go. It's unlike anything else you have or will ever see.
Sitting up high is like watching a show and standing in General Admission is more like a concert.

Saw something on the interwebs this morning that said the sphere pays over $500,000 a month in energy bills alone. Also, wondering if it has to be cleaned and if so, how?

Seconds is crazy good.

Listening to a song like or most of their early songs hits different with the news right now.

I had a friend go to a Madonna concert (Yeah no my thing) and she said none of the songs sounded anything like how they knew them. They changed every single song so basically the only thing she recognized was the lyrics. Everyone was just kind of sitting there like WTF is this.

Brutal.

There is nothing worse than an artist taking (good) songs and butchering them, let alone their entire setlist.

I like Madonna with Into the Groove being one of my favorites from my youth. But based on what I've seen I'm not sure you could pay me to go to her shows.
