Isn't the Gridiron Club a University sanctioned thing?

It clearly must be legal for them to donate to NIL collectives, but it sure surprises me that it is.

I'm not sure on the specifics, but the Gridiron Club has usually donated to the Athletic Department in the past. I don't think they're officially associated with the university in any capacity that would stop them from donating to WeWill or the AD.

Yeah, the Gridiron Club is outside the Athletics Department. They are run by a board of members of the club. Money they have raised typically goes to specific need areas within the football program (training equipment and so on). The donation to We Will makes a lot of sense within their purpose as a club and I'm sure the football program told them this would be the best use of that money at this time.
