They had a Gilberto Gil special on Amazon, the first season was the family getting together and practicing and then the second season was the whole family going on tour in Europe. It was fun to watch and so I thought I would honor it with a song from Gilberto Gil, great Brazilian singer and writer, who is probably over 80 and seems to be going pretty well.

Here is the translation and it was so bad that I decided to change a few small things.

Stage

I get up on the stage
My soul smelling like baby powder,
Like a baby's bottom
My aura is clear,
Only those who are clairvoyant can tell,
Can tell
I bring my band,
Only those who know where Luanda is
Will truly value them
They are worth their weight,
For those who appreciate the crazy beat of the drum
Of the drum

Chase away those eternal fires
Send away hell to another place,
Eternal fire be consumed,
Get Hell, the hell out of here,

I come to the party,
I know that many have on their foreheads
The sun-god as a sign
A sign
As a devotee,
I bring a basket of backyard joys
Backyard joys
There's also a jug,
Music sent by God
Asking to let
To let
The soothing balm pour forth
Set the tune, sing the song
La, la, yeah

Chase away those eternal fires
Send away hell to another place,
Eternal fire be consumed,
Get Hell, the hell out of here,

If you like funky psychedelic guitars check out Parker Griggs’ latest project El Perro.

I think I've landed on southern rock as my music right now. Makes sense, as I grew up with my dad listening to Johnny Cash and my mom listening to Elvis. That country/rock/blues sound blended kind of takes you to that, as it scratches a lot of itches.
I’m interested and could agree. Give me your top 3 bands of southern rock.

That is a tough one as these things vary for me.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, CCR, The Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Marshall Tucker Band, 38 Special, the Black Crowes.

Blackberry Smoke and Driveby Truckers are newer discoveries (by me).

The funny thing is, I never really thought about Tom Petty and a couple others as southern rock until I got curious about the genre and found them in it.

I’m gonna give those last two a listen. I haven’t dabbled much there.

You ever listen to Whiskey Myers?

I have not. Pretty sure I first ran across both those on here, maybe in this thread lol.

Blackberry Smoke’s cover of Tom Petty’s You got lucky kicks butt
I enjoy Whiskey Myers a great deal. Sources tell me they are incredible live.

They have some good ballads (Stone is an incredible song) and other rock n roll jams.

Be interested to see what you think.

Cheaper than a trip to France... here's St-Tropez (that the French call "Saint-Trop'" (Saint Excessive))
