I'm fine with the Hawk posters, I dont think they've been trolls. At least we dont have d-bags like JWRHawk, C-NoteHawk and other rivals losers posting here.

I can't believe the in-state rivals posts still show up on the front page. Simple solution is to treat them like the Gaming/Groups forum.

If Rivals/Scout have taught us anything it's that the lowest common denominator (TSAHawk, or whatever that one dudes name on Rivals is JWRHawk, etc.) are they types of posters that flame in these types of forums. These are also the types of trolls most posters don't want to deal with.

Take the instate rivals stuff off the main page already.

I agree in part. Just keep in mind those hawk fans who are fighting so hard to keep the Instate Rivals Forum on the mainpage and then ask yourself why. It's fairly obvious that they enjoy keeping the site smothered in hawk talk 24/7. Remove them from the main page and hawk talk should fade away.

I slightly disagree. I think the hawk talk will stay on CF for aslong as cyclone fans keep starting the threads. I would like to see it moved off the main page because of the appearance of the website. When you first look at the thread list and see 2 or 3 or even 4 instate threads, I just move on to the next site. I do enjoy "discussing" things regarding the rivals from time to time, but when there are three threads at 100+ posts on the main board, nope, not what I wanted.

I am getting very, very tired of the thread derails on things that are not Iowa related - see ISU recruit posts. That is starting to tick me off.

This.

I wouldn't mind all that hawk talk, the back and forth, if it were limited to the rivalry board (and that board was opt-in, but I digress). But inevitably somebody takes a shot at iowa, more often a hawk puts their unsolicited two cents in - and the misery commences.

I'm not sure this is completely necessary. Just make it like the Gaming/Groups forum where it's easy to get to and anyone can see it, it just doesn't appear on the front page.

I wouldn't mind an "opt-in only" Rivals forum, but the question is will it solve anything? We just got done hearing about how a thread about someone that had just committed to Iowa State getting completely derailed into how Iowa is winning the in-state recruiting battle by several Hawk fans. Which leads to the point - what good is an "opt-in" forum when the majority of threads on this site that have nothing to do with in-state rivals run the risk of getting moved to that forum because a particular set of few on this site decide to derail these threads into why Iowa is so much better than Iowa State.

I get tired of seeing threads derailed as well. But, if it's this serious "problem" that could jeopardize the future of this site, then about the only solution to this problem would be banning those posters - which is something the mods can't and won't do because that kind of behavior would fly in the face of the whole reason behind why this site was created in the first place (a certain guy who ran a Cyclone fan site banning people because their views differed from the site owner's).

The solution is for every Cyclone fan on this board to add all the hawkeyes on a certain date to the ignore list. If no one sees their post no one will respond to them and they will go away.

Then maybe hawks who derail threads outside of the rivals forum should be hit with infractions and after 2 or 3 warnings get the boot?

ISU threads are started. And hawks make it about Iowa.

ISU plays Iowa and goes after some of the same recruits...so hawk trolls feel that is their "in" to start a ******* contest if ISU fan brings it up.

A bunch of people on this thread have said it's more the ISU fan's fault for starting the threads. I call BS. It's a cyclone site. We play in the state of Iowa and against Iowa. We should be able to discuss all things related to ISU (including Iowa) without it always turning into a ******* contest with trolls like THH, DJK, Gov, Gary Johnson, and the rest of them.

No, I challenge you to take a tally. In threads that have nothing to do with Iowa, you'll first find an ISU fan to make a response about "EIU's arrests" or something like that, and then in will come an Iowa fan to defend the Hawks' honor, followed by the massive trainwreck that was once a promising thread.

I know, I know, I used to be one of those guys to chirp in and respond to every Iowa comment in every thread, but not only did I start to annoy myself, but there have been so many comments that they are impossible to keep up with. Plus, it always just becomes an immature ***** fest.

So solution - stop talking about the Hawks, create ISU related topics, and keep them ISU related, and PROBLEM SOLVED. That makes it easier for the moderator team to keep the trolls at bay, and everybody is happy.

It's a cyclone message board. So what? If we want to talk about our rival's troubles amongst other ISU fans--this should be the place to do it. I don't get why you and THH and DJK and Gov all feel it is your responsibility to defend the hawks...especially on a CYCLONE message board. Go to hawkeyenation--they make fun of the clones all the time and you don't see those threads invaded by clones defending ISU....

Explain to me why the part I underlined even happens?

.

Problem--ISU plays Iowa, ISU is in Iowa. We should be able to discuss this as cyclone fans......but the hawk trolls here can't stand that some people in this state may not like their team. Solution? Go to your hawk boards to discuss hawks. You'll still get cyclone talk---just not with the ******* match from cyclone fans.

OR....we could secretly move the website overnight......to a location that no Hawk would ever look, like allabouthawks.com or something. :jimlad:

ok, that wasn't very helpful...

I don't post a lot on this site, but I do read it quite often. I would have to say that the Hawk clutter does get a little old.

Classic example of this can be found here, and this was only yesterday. When you invite it, you can't be ****** at the results.

The majority of the time, Iowa fans aren't going to get involved in the ISU football thread unless there is a question about Iowa, or a wisecrack about Iowa. Personally, I keep most of my posting in the in-state forum, but this time of year I've spent just as much time talking about the Cubs and other off-topic things as I have about the Hawks.

If the in-state board has really gotten to the point where it's "affecting the appperance" of the site, or "ruining" the experience, the move it off the front page; make it opt-in like the politics board. It won't change anything, or the amount of people that visit it, but if it makes everyone feel better, that's all that matters. Anyway, back to what I was talking about.

I think my opinion has been has already been made clear in another thread. If we can get the majority of members to place these hawk trolls on their ignore list they will lose interest with no Clone fans to flame and they will head back to hawk boards. I am not a fan of fellow Clones avoiding coming to CF to read about the Cyclones because of the hawk talk. I would much prefer that hawk fans went somewhere else. Ignoring them can make it happen.

I agree. Place them on ignore. And for those who feel the need to respond, please don't quote. I don't want or need to hear from those idiots. BTW, I think that I'm going to start adding Clone posters who habitually start hok threads to my ignore list as well. If the mods won't clean up the front page, i'll do it myself.
