Um, that's normally how it works. However, the information is only spilled if the coach gives it the ok to be spilled. McDermott does the same thing.

I don't buy that for a second. It may happen here or there. But I don't think it's a given in many cases.

If it wasn't, do you think any recruiting services would get any information from coaching staffs? The assistants just don't go out and undermine coaches for fun. Normally the coach has given the ok after he's run it through the proper channels.

My guess is that further investigation did not produce sufficient evidence to support a conviction on posession charges. Assuming this included labs, these kids are not regular tokers. Since this is a "never mind" ruling by the legal system, it may not even count as a first infraction to ISU. Doesn't sound like we are dealing with bad actors, here.

dude common sense, lets see they got in trouble for smoking grass because someone reported seeing people who looked like football players smoking pot. They went into their apartment and didn't find pot, but found seeds. Lets test the 3 of them to see if they were in fact smoking pot. if they didn't test positive makes sense why they are reinstated.

Yeah - but see, common sense says that if you have seeds and residue in your apartment, and admit to those belong to you... then at some point your lighting up. Meaning you've done it - and that's still against the law.

I know that doesn't work in the favor of the "light it up" crowd. But common sense is a two way street.

Gazette article doesn't mention anything about the legal charges against the three. Found that interesting.

Depends on when they were tested. If you raid someone and 12 days later they take a **** test, even those people smoking great pot (typically w/o seeds) will have a great chance at passing your typical THC screen. 12 days for guys with little to no fat that drink a lot of water and sweat for hours every day is a long, long time unless they are administered a more stringent test than usual.

Personally, I don't care if they play or not. Just making a point.

I am not defending these three but I will defend CPR. That is what I am trying to do. CPR has not made any comments and the news release says that it was the AD office who made this decission. Not CPR and we have not heard any words from CPR.

Will have to remember this when ING decides to **** me.

People here do realize that you can be an avid smoker, and still **** clean right? One trip to any head shop will get you the correct liquid to walk into most tests that are given with the confidence and ability to pass. Also, if they were tested after being charged, and the results were back, it would not have been a very in depth test (like an exact T-cell count) and the aforementioned substances would be almost 100% effective. Back in my younger years (late 90's, early-mid 2000's) I passed numerous tests with easily obtained liquids.

Also, the idea that they had seeds and not actual pot is laughable at best. If indeed they did have seeds, where do you think those seeds came from? (Keep in mind, there was admission already made) It would be extremely hard for you to convince me that two players held on to a bunch of seeds in a container with pot residue from years past. If indeed that were the case, they should probably be kicked off the team for being idiots! Also, possession of marijuana seeds is also illegal.

Wow. Not even gonna bother reading this whole thread. 2 pages of people demanding an explanation? Who the **** are you people? Get over it. The whole situation was b.s. anyway. And who cares what iowa fan says or thinks? Only people with very low self esteem.

I agree with you completely. Their is a very good chance that all marijuana would be out of their system, which in fact would at least lead you to believe that they figured it out and set the pipe down for a couple weeks.

Fair enough.

I think you can interchange CPR and AD (meaning Atheletic Dept, not Director) pretty freely in these cases.

The fact we haven't heard anything, and the final comment in the Gazette that the AD will have no further comment on the issue, is what I find troubling.

"We're doing it, we don't have to explain anything to our fans."

I'm really interested to know what the status of the legal charges is? If they passed a drug screen, I would have to think those don't have a chance either.

This whole thing is a little funny, IMO. From the time it took to bring the warrants and charges, to the subsequent reinstatement after only 3 days.

The crack of the discipline whip is a sight to behold in Ames. Seeds but no pot? Yea, that's the ticket. Released per the AD but not the coach. Riiiiiiiight.

So please tell me were this info comes from to include liquids that flushes your system. If this is sold somewhere in Iowa please point this out. And if this is the case How is it so many athletes get caught with this stuff in there system.
