OMG the jar could be a keep sake or something of a collection from past usage. The fact is they were supposed to be seen smoking the weed and they have been tested along with other players and they ****** clean.

You get this from where?

Talk about jumping to conclusions. Where's that mat?

Couldn't they be reinstated to the team... practice, facilities use, etc... but still be suspended from playing in a game?

According to the whotv.com link, they will suit up Saturday. That's why we should all shut our mouth holes and let the university release something.

Oh man, this is going to really disappoint all those psychos who wanted to see them scalped. Apparently CPR is a reasonable man.

I figured they would probably get a 1 game suspension, but I am cool with this too. Nice to see we have a reasonable coach who doesn't overreact to such minor crimes.

Dropping the charges would be public knowledge - and I've not heard of any announcement from the Story County attorney's office that charges have been dropped...[/QUOTE

Not sure if they had dropped the charges but I am pretty sure county cop shop has more important things to do then address a minor possession charge.

Iowa fans will (and rightfully should) have a field day with this one. Be prepared. If you have stated Ferentz doesn't discipline players in the past, you better be up in arms over this. Otherwise, youre 100% a hypocrit. Myself, I've stuck by the 'boys will be boys' mantra for both Iowa/ISU/UNI/whoever, and things like alcohol/Marijuana have never bothered me. This will be one more case where it's an outrage if it happens at Iowa, and no big deal if it happens here.

And for those who have piled on about Iowas DE (can't think of his name, Ballard maybe but I think he's a DT now) not getting suspended for punchign a cab driver, remember this incident. 3 players, 2 admitting to using marijuana (and also remember, testing positive for this means not being able to play via NCAA rules I believe) and no punishment is handed to them.

Smoking grass and assaulting cab drivers are not even close to comparable crimes. One harms nobody, one is a direct assault to the face of an innocent cab driver. Not comparable at all.

I'm wondering the same thing. The report of being in uniform Saturday doesn't necessarily mean cleared for competition.

I don't see a violation of university policy since it appears that the athletic department has the option to lift any suspensions. The key issue is that I doubt if they would take this action unless either the charges have been dropped or they are convinced that there is not a substantial case.

I am doing my best:biggrin:

All athletes have to go through physicals done by the University and part of the physical is peeing in a cup. This I know for fact.

Well I have to ask then...

If this was already done, why were the suspended in the first place?

What's all the fuss about? It was just a few seeds and residue.

Didn't you watch "Reefer Madness?" That stuff will make you kill your family with an axe or jump out a 5th story window. Its the Devil's Plant!

You know what does drive me nuts about this? (I know, you're dying to know)

Somebody is leaking this info BEFORE the AD/CPR have a chance to get out in front of it.

JP is so silent on coaching searches.... maybe he needs to put some of that methodology to work in these types of things.

Um, that's normally how it works. However, the information is only spilled if the coach gives it the ok to be spilled. McDermott does the same thing.

dude common sense, lets see they got in trouble for smoking grass because someone reported seeing people who looked like football players smoking pot. They went into their apartment and didn't find pot, but found seeds. Lets test the 3 of them to see if they were in fact smoking pot. if they didn't test positive makes sense why they are reinstated.
