I agree the term apathy isn't correct. The problem is, many people are really angry (as you said), but that has lead to a feeling of helplessness because the only clear solution to the problem is getting a new coach, because that is the problem.
Im posting in a thread about apathy LOL... good try. Like I said before. I still love basketball games. I will go to Hilton because I love watching the other teams that come into HIlton. Only so many times do you get to see these guys come thru Hilton before heading ot hte NBA>
Plus its cheap entertainment, good ice cream, and its 20 min from home.
I feel the same after we win or lose this year. We have no future this season or next.
Great read Chris. I agree i also really hate that word apathy and all the people on here that use it, if you really dont care anymore you wouldnt be posting about the team on a freaking message board.

Well if you go there to watch the other team, you should really stop calling yourself an Iowa State fan
Don't paint us all the same. I don't think that is the problem.
I never said cheer for them. I said watch them.
I think its past your bedtime LOL.

I'm one of those who used the word "apathy"; I referred to fans who would never dream of reading or posting on CF, but who buy tix, donate, and have lately decided not to come to the games. Uh, like on Saturday. Empty seats littered "sold-out" sections all around Hilton.
So, yeah, when people donate and spend money to get seats and then don't come, that's apathy...
Not if they were sitting at home watching or if they even checked the box score and were ******. As long as there is still the thought of the team there is not apathy.

Ding Ding Ding Ding Ding....what do we have for him Johnny?:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
If you're mad, you're not apathetic. If you're not apathetic, you're a true fan, as far as I'm concerned. Don't give up on the team.
That being said, good write up, Chris.

Yup, right on.

Cyclone fanbase is apathetic and GMAC is pathetic.
This was a big year for Mac. He signed Gilstrap for this year (at the time a 25 year old with one year of eligibility left) then Dendy came after that. Going Juco crazy is not "building" a program (remember that was his line at the end of last year).
How many people on here said this was the year. He needed one of two things, sign Barnes or an NCAA berth. I read that everywhere.
Now we may get this thing turned around, but that requires fixing the problems that have existed since day one. None of that has happened at this point.
It's been his program for four years, which is an eternity in college basketball. That is where the frustration comes from. That is also where the lack of faith in McDermott comes from as well.
