DG
Phillips or Boozer
Christopherson
Vanderbeeken
Hamilton

let's make fun of the hoks for being pathetic now all we can. because their starting five would beat this starting five hands down. If this is seriously who we roll out with next year, we might win 10 games and that's if the chicago state's of the world don't clip us a couple times.

sad

We could see a lot of turnover in the offseason. I wouldn't be surprised if Brackins, Gilstrap, Dendy, Colvin, Buckley or Boozer weren't on the team. If Brackins and Gilstrap are gone I think the offense will look more like his UNI teams with 4 perimeter players and one in the post. Outside of Scotty and JVB we'll be thin at 3 point shooters.

DG/ Colvin
Scotty/ Phillips
Boozer/ Ejim
JVB/ Dendy
Ham/ Railey

You wouldn't be surprised if Boozer transfers out to play one year somewhere?

I'm sure it's just a reflection of the past few years but why so many people are predicting Colvin is out is beyond me.

I predict Brackins and Gilstrap won't be back.
I wouldn't be surprised if Dendy, Colvin, Buckley or Boozer in that order of likeliness isn't playing at ISU next season for whatever reason.

For Colvin, Buckley, and Boozer what are your reasons for why they would leave? Just curious. I'm not saying none of them will leave, but I'm curious to the basis of your opinions.

Ham is progressing very much like Homan (he even has a Homan fu-manchu) and if that continues we will have a heck of a center in a couple of years. My concern about next year's line-up and the future is the same, no Big 12 caliber point guards, and until that is corrected I don't see much of a future.

It looks to me like next year's team will be deep, even if we lose CB and MG. Hopefully, one of the newcomers will be able to hit the trey, because I think, like a couple others, that Ham will be really good next year. I also think DG will be better, with CC to push him for playing time.

Colvin had offers from other major programs, and has had issues here. He might see greener pastures like WJ did, and realize he doesn't like McD. He would fit into an uptempo fast break system much better than the current ISU system. He also may have expected to be a starter or see more playing time.

Buckley could transfer and be a starter and likely 15 point a game guy for a midmajor school. Plus losing playing time to Colvin is likely getting to him, considering Colvin's "problem" this year.

Boozer wouldn't transfer and has his best shot at being a starter next year. Just a hunch that he feels like he's better than the coaches think, and might disappear.

CC is one. I watched the G'town game last night and I remember Chris Wright being almost the exact thing as COlvin his Freshman year. He has an attitude and he is very good. I could definitely see Colvin turning into the same type of player that will back down from no one.

I think you start with who won't start.
Dendy-high energy but he's better in spurts up to 20 minutes/game
Christopherson-his D was exposed v. OKieSt.

So I'll go with;
DG-you can't replace that kind of expierence
Phillips-sounds like the next Kantrail Horton plus can guard a 2 or 3
Colvin-just too talented to not get majior minutes
Gilstrap or Brackins automatic if either returns otherwise JVB
Hamilton-he is turning into a very solid Big XII post

Even though we'll start 3 guards Ejim or Gilstrap will play the 3 a lot
with Dendy rotating in up front and Christopherson in the backcort

Some big assumptions bolded above.

Why do you think he would be better in an uptempo system? He seems to do well (for a freshman) in the half court sets as well as on the break.

I personally don't think the other major offers matter that much.

If we're just going to predict mass exodus in a "plan for the worst hope for the best" scenario I could maybe understand. But what I don't understand is why so many people are running around assuming that a talented freshman is an automatic to leave. Obviously it could happen and has happened here recently, but Colvin has played well since coming back and the early season body language concerns are long gone.

yaman3- I hope you're right about CC, and I had high hopes for him early in the year. But I'm not seeing any progress or development since then, and that's probably on the coaches. He's shown he can be a very good passer, but hasn't shown that he's a good finisher or jump shooter. I agree that he's only a freshman and has a lot of time to develop, but it looks to me like he's actually regressed as this year has gone on even as he's got more playing time.

I think it seems like he has regressed because he is more under control. I think he will be fine. He just needs to become a little more mature and get used to the speed of the game.
