How are you liking it? I'm getting one soon. It will be my first smartphone.

I haven't done the research yet but I read that there's some quirk where certain apps don't shut down properly and that's what drains the battery. And I think there's a fix for it. Have you checked into that already?

I have this device.

Its pretty slick. It has a 1GHZ processor, so its really quick for a phone.
Also the built in 8gb internal is nice, you also have sd slot for expansion.

If you are a google account user, this is your device. I have the calendar/contacts/email through google and it is integrated into the phone pretty good.

the apps are "ok"...not quite on the level as Apple but they are getting better each day and with more options.

Biggest hit against this phone is the lack of a good battery. You Will be charging this thing every night, even with moderate usage.

any specific questions?

On the Eris, if you turn off the GPS then it saves your battery a lot. They are essentially the same phone with upgraded processor, screen, ect so I would assume that would work with the Incredible as well.

Yeah, occasionally you have to fiddle with it to close apps and make sure they don't run in the background.

This was kind of the dilemma I was in as well, but I really wouldnt hold your breathe on the Iphone coming to Verizon thing. I dont see that happen for atleast another year, if it comes at all.

Of course I could be wrong, Wouldnt be the first or last time.

There's been a lot more smoke about it this time around than previously (even the WSJ was reporting it awhile back) , and at this point its only a few weeks until we can get word straight from apple.

I'm currently using a windows OS phone and thinking about going to this phone. Is the OS on the Incredible similar to windows?

Dont know much about windows mobile OS but I would guess its more locked down then Android 2.1

You can basically do whatever you want with the Android 2.1 within reason.
Of course this is a good and bad thing, depending on how knowledgeable you are.

If you use wi-fi a lot another thing that has made a huge difference in battery life for me (on Eris) is: Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Wi-Fi settings -> [menu] -> Advanced -> Wi-Fi sleep policy

Set it to "Never".

I know it sounds backward but obtaining a 3G connection takes a lot of battery so if you're in a wi-fi spot a lot and it keeps sleeping and reconnecting to 3G you use more battery than just leaving wi-fi on all the time.

Android is much different than Winmo...I'd say it's more stable and user friendly. Winmo is definitely not locked down, although it takes more work to customize.

I have an HTC Touch Pro2 on Verizon running Windows Mobile 6.5. I like the device but the software is lacking in many areas. HTC makes really nice devices. I've seen the incredible running Droid and it is sweet phone. I wish I would have waited a bit longer and gotten the Droid OS on the new HTC.

The Incredible is my first smart phone too. Still learning things on it but I love it.
Incredible Pros:
FAST
Works with Outlook Exchange pretty well, I have a widget with my calendar, email works great and can open attachments well (PDF, docx, etc.)
Gmail works great
First time ive never had a "hard" keyboard, but the touchscreen is great. Fixes 99% of your screw ups. Even if you got fat fingers. i.e. infredibke becomes incredible on keypad.
8 MP camera
Ever-expanding Android apps (which will exceed Apple someday)
The HTC Sense UI is nice.

Cons:
Batterly life sucks. If you use apps a lot, you will need to charge multiple times a day. Verizon is supposed to be coming out with a larger battery soon, and I will buy it immediately.
Phone dialer is trigger happy, but a download of the Call Confirm app fixes that.
I expected better call quality, but its manageable.

Overall, I love it.
