Anyone who physically assaults a Nebraska fan is a ******* moron/d-bag.

Their fans are condescending, arrogant, and even though they treat you nice in Lincoln, it's nothing but complete back handed compliments, and severely patronizing.

That still doesn't give us a right to throw beer cans at them. Go ahead and heckle their Starter jackets bought @ Wal-Mart in 1995, but don't actually assault them.

Well stated Ceek. I hate what NU stands for, but I have no personal vengeance toward you fans coming to Ames. Most idiots on here were praying that we got the Big 10 invite, so I wouldn't worry about them. I have to say that the venom they spew toward you guys for "worshiping" a team, seems to be a bit hypocritical. They obviously have an unhealthy obsession with ISU.

All said, NU and Texas almost crumbled our fine university for what? More money. Aren't these teams already the leading money-makers? What good is money then? It's just a shame what the greedy have done to a great institution of college athletics.

Enjoy getting richer, it won't change anything. You'll still be just another team in another conference and you will be on TV every week. I see no improvement in this divorce from tradition.
I will say, NU will be on TV every week, but so will we. The outcast in the whole Big 12 was Nebraska. Funny how they exist stage left and now we have a better tv deal.

It doesnt matter ceek. Its a dirty shot to put the blame on nebraska and nebraska alone. Nebraska wasnt even the 1st team to leave the conference but yet we get the blame. Why, because were the big 12 norths big brother, is that what people think. We are suspost to think for the benefit of the north of the conference. Texas has showed its all for one and thats pretty much it. Last time i checked 10 teams in a conference can still be considered a conference. I think the boys in ames need to look south as to who held there conference in the palm of there hands. But again, if given the chance there would be flame marks from ames with how fast they burned to the big 10. You are no different then we are.

Maybe so, but people are going to put most of that on us because we got most of the publicity about it, we're also considered to be a more nationally prominent team than colorado is so we get the brunt of the negative response. This is all to say nothing of the fact that husker fans in general are perceived by many to be arrogant, and stating things like this just perpetuates that idea...we need to consider that we're on their board and be respectful even if we're not treated so.

Well, calling yourselves the "Greatest Fans in College Football" right on the front of your own stadium sure doesn't diffuse that stereotype.

I dont think anyone is going to assault a Husker fan. But you never know.

I'm going to try but don't know if I'll succeed. It will depend on if the wind is blowing hard enough to veer my pumpkin off course. Plus if my target is wearing a 1995 Starter coat from Wal-Mart it may not qualify as "assaulting" if it just glances off them with no pain inflicted. I'll have to make sure I hit them in the coconut.

HA! it's funny you mention that cause I brought up this exact point at the last home game I went to, it's amazing that A LOT of our fans still wear this crap...I actually saw a guy wearing a sweat shirt that grant wistrom had autographed from the 97 season, he was damn proud of it too!

I agree 100%, to be fair to NU fans though, the "greatest fans in college football" was originally brought up by our opponents, generally out of conference foes who weren't around nebraska fans very much and had limited experience in lincoln, and the engraving of it into our entrances was the brainchild of Steve Pederson, our Ex AD, someone whom I'm sure if you asked most husker fans, is not a person we like.

THATS NOT MY ****** FAULT.

I'm embarrassed for this thread. The amount of ******-baggery shown by a few complete tools is disturbing.

Have you ever been to a game in Lincoln? Most civil fans I have ever seen - besides Cylone fans, of course.

Yes I have been we almost got kicked out in the first quarter because ISU was actually driving the ball and we were standing cheering for our team. Fans got security to have us sit down. The fans were rude the whole game and NU killed ISU that game. After that game I refused to ever go back to Lincoln for a game.

Actually, it's NOT just a game. The greedy move by their "walking god" almost cost ISU it's conference affiliation. And that has to do with more than just football. It has to do with relegating ISU to second tier status not only athletically and media-wise, but academically. It has to do with grants, jobs, and the city of Ames. Sorry, but I don't feel the need to turn the other cheek when that school does something like that to the conference mates that they built their tradition on. I don't feel any need to act nice to a cultist fanbase who will never step foot in Ames again. They're the hawkeye's problem after this year...actually they're each others' problem.

My motto for this week: Go Big Red = Can Bounced Off Head.
Funny. In the end, we end up in the same conference with more money and people are ****** at nebraska. I for one am glad they are leaving. More security, more money, and no more nebraska. Good riddance and I hold no ill will towards them. I hope they destroy their division every single year and make the big ten regret the day they expanded.

To that account i have been to Jack Trice during a husker game. We actually lost in 05 i believe and the heckling i got leaving that stadium was atrocious. I went to the nebraska oklahoma game last year. Our most hated rival, and not one bit if heckling was heard from me during the game and in the parking lots after.

Im not going to the game this year because frankly i dont want to go to jail. Its not that i go looking for a fight, but i have a feeling jacked up drunk cyclone fans will. Especially if the game gets out of hand. I think ill just watch it from the confides of my home this year. To bad, i root for isu every other game.

I don't think he's suggesting that it would, but ISU was in some hot water there after we had left, because Texas was considering taking the south teams (minus A&M who I believe had SEC aspirations) with them to the pac-10, which would have dissolved the conference and more than likely left ISU, KU, and KSU outside of a BCS conference. I do understand the venom towards osborne, what I don't understand is acting like the fans had anything whatsoever to do with the decision.
Those three as well as Mizzou would have ended up in the Big East which is a BCS conference. don't believe everything you hear on ESPN or local blah, blah radio

I don't believe anything I hear on ESPN, lol, I knew that there were some rumblings of what could have happened if all that **** went down but I didn't know there was every any concrete back-up plan.

If your motto is "Go Big Red = Can Bounced Off Head", then you my friend, will be no better than hawk-fan... Grow up

And you, my friend, have zero sense of humor. I thought it was kind of catchy! Anyway, those husker fans need to work on their beer can dodging if they are going to survive Iowa City...those cans will move a lot faster because they're full. Consider it a favor that I'm helping them train!

I am happy nebraska left. The conference is better off without them. But lets look at one FACT here. Texas is still in the Big 12 and will be for the foreseeable future. Nebraska is not. So all your little candy bar correlations don't mean squat. Here is one that fits the conference realignment talk...

You and an aquaintance walk into to a store and see a box of your favorite candy bar. You both have the money to buy it but your too selfish/arrogant to pay and think you are owed the box of candy bars. There is only one box left so your aquaintance states he is thinking about stealing it and giving some of it to four friends. You say, "Go to Hell!" run and steal the box and don't share with anyone. Your aquaintance instead buys another box of better candy bars and shares with 9 of his buddies. You blame the aquaintance for your actions and act all high and mighty. even though the aquaintance never stole anything and you did.

Unlike others on here, I have no issues with nebraska fans and most I have encountered are good people. But when a nebbie fan claims that they had no blame/choice, it is absolutely ridiculous. They chose to leave. They were not forced. Nebraska has a large fan base, national follwing and plenty of tradition. There were three teams in the Big 12 that had no worries...Texas, Oklahoma, and nebraska. They would have ended up in a power conference somewhere. This is reaffirmed by the Big 10 feeling nebraska was valuable enough to add. It is laughable to me that nebraska was worried about security when they wre one of three that had and could guarantee security.
