Oklahoma State, 1997, during my freshman year at ISU. Don't remember much of that game, or season for that matter, with the exception of our lone win vs Baylor.

Somewhere in the U.S.
1970. Versus Colorado State I believe. At Clyde Williams. ISU won....but they were not a good team that year......they would be much better the next season. IIRC, there was only like 4 home games that year for some reason.

I cant remember an exact game cause I think when i way young my parents took me, but my first vague memory of a "first" game was the ball state game, maybe in the late 90's.

edit.. it was 1998..

n 1980. And I think their helmets were modeled after the Rams, not the Jets (still are).

yes.

Also played CSU in '83, and nearly lost. Needed a big David Archer-fueled rally to win by 3.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we ever played AT Drake anytime in the modern era (ISU would not play at a stadium that small) but they did beat us in Ames in 1985. Still the worst feeling I've ever had walking out of the stadium.

I don't think there was a game at Drake in the modern era. And I recall the '85 loss because I didn't attend. Something about the game the previous (may have even been a W), I thought, "this team is gonna lose to Drake." So I decided to go home the next weekend, and skip the Drake game.

It was September of 1969, but it was so long ago I can't remember who ISU played and actual date. I was a college freshman and of course got season tickets. They were $10 for a student season ticket and there were no reserved seats.

Ames via Sioux Falls, SD
September 4th, 2004 vs. UNI. 23-0.

I got hooked the next weekend, a 10-17 loss at Iowa. Nothing makes a Hawk turn into Cyclone quite like going into Kinnick in an ISU Band uniform.

6 years with the good guys and going strong!

The bad area of the state.
1992: Neb vs ISU - so cold was planning on leaving at half-time. Stayed and rushed the field, then traveled with goal posts partially up Lincoln Way

That was probably 9/27/1969 against BYU and we won 10-0.

My first game as well. I believe we lost 21-14, and commenced a very long season (at least we got to take the goal posts all the way to Lincoln Way against Baylor)

Chizik's first Big 12 win. November 3, 2007; 31-20 over K-State. Had been wanting to go to a game for a long time, and was finally able to talk dad into getting tickets. Went to the Colorado game a week later for that awesome second half comeback. We have a great record in games I've been to. Only three losses: Iowa and Okie State last year and Utah this year.

First game was in 2002 against Tech. Witnessed Seneca's run. Pretty good experience for a first game, although it was as cold as all get-up that night and I only brought a windbreaker.

9/3/2005 - 32-21 win over Illinois State.

Mine too.

I wasn't a big ISU fan until I was deciding where to go to college. It was probably my junior year in high school that I really started to follow them, and more-so my senior year of high school. I remember listening to the Missouri game in 2004 on the radio in my dad's shop. I came to ISU, had student tickets, and was pretty pumped for my first ISU game ever. We were expected to be a pretty good team in 2005. The game vs. Illinois St. left me very nervous for the rest of the year and I thought we would be terrible. Then we beat Iowa 23-3 the following week... and we all know how the rest of the season went. Heartbreaking...

I could start a whole new thread called "what was the coldest game you ever went to in Ames" but I'll refrain.

One game I remember being REALLY cold at was a 15-10 upset by the Clones over a ranked Oklahoma State team.

I also remember freezing my *** off at the first ISU night game, a 12-10 loss to Oklahoma. I don't remember if it was actually that cold that night or if I was under dressed.

The coldest game I attended by far was the 1998 KU game. The only time I ever felt unbearably cold at an ISU game. We won though, so it was all worth it...

And leaving them in Lake Laverne! I remember a few people going by while we were grilling out that afternoon with hacksaws hoping to go cut themselves a section of the posts.
