Someone get Doyles e-mail address. He owes us one. Also can you post Andy Katz's e-mail address? Thanks
I'll save Doyle the time and write his column for him.

This ruling proves that Iowa State is nothing more than a bunch of no good cheaters. Of course this is something I've known since I blew the whistle on them and got their coach fired because that's how powerful I am.

I really don't understand how this is any different than Curtis Stinson and other college athletes playing on the same team as Stephon Starbury on the rucker league games. It's a complete joke.

Good point... I play baseball in local league with a bunch of college kids... Are they all ineligable now because I have played professionally?

Did they not know the Euros he was paid were worth less at the time he received them.

What was the threshold limit for the NCAA? Just curious.

I remember those Jiri jeans and rattletrap car from last year were worth 6 sheckels or six games.

One gets the impression that the NCAA is trying to discourage foreign kids from coming here td play.

Did you miss the part where he wasn't paid anything? His teammates were paid, but not him. Thus the :realmad::realmad::wacko::wacko::realmad::realmad: around here

Here is an email I just sent:

I will just point to this article for my facts:

DesMoinesRegister.com

This ruling is beyond ridiculous for the following reasons:

1. From what I can tell, this rule was not even in place when these players were playing on the team in question. If the NCAA was a state actor this would be an unconstitutional ex-post facto application of the rule.

2. The ruling is punishing individuals who did not personally benefit from the violations. By contrast, players who have actually taken compensation have been suspended for much shorter periods and still have their Heismen trophies.

3. The players attempted to comply with the rules. Handing out a maximum sentence to a player that consciously tried to follow the rules violates all notions of fairness and justice. This also speaks to the fact that the rules are not clear and are overbroad.

For the above reasons I request that the NCAA re-evaluate this ruling as soon as possible.

Freshman, but now with one less year eligibility. What worries me is now will he just say, "Screw the NCAA..I will go to Europe and play professionally."

Honestly this is one of the first things I thought of. I hope he sticks around for the good of the team, but honestly I couldn't blame him for moving on. Just one #$@$storm after another with the NCAA and this program. Unbelievable.

They might, but if it takes 6 months to look at like their initial application, the season will be over. They are a freaking embarrassment.

wow, took me a while to catch up to the end of this thread. I'm with you...don't panic until it has all settled down. We got a hard fight on our hands, so hopefully our AD is up to the challenge...time to man-up. This is so obvious bs!! :skeptical:

I like our odds with JP behind this thing.

I'm not panicing yet. It sounds like they have a good appeal story.

Yeah, but it will take the NCAA until April 8, 2008 to make a decision on the appeal.

FYI...the National Championship will be played on April 7th. :realmad:

This seems like a stupid question, but I am sure that JP is also getting overwhelmed with emails and calls to know how outraged fans are over this. If not, I am sure that he will read it here on CF.

I'm just as pissed as anyone else about this, but let's focus on being practical and active about getting this turned the other way. I think some sort of alliance with Washington State is a good idea. They are hardly a traditional basketball power, but they were a #3 seed in the tournament last year. Greg said something along these lines in the article this morning about two schools from the Big 12 and Pac-10 being affected, so it seems like he's thinking along those same lines.

For those would be in the know more than I am, how likely would an appeal be? I do think we have a good case on our side, just from the facts.

What the hell was Lucca supposed to do?
I really don't know how to address this?
What kind of appeal is he (or ISU) supposed to make?
...WHAT WAS HIS CRIME?! ...I can only imagine what the appeals app. would look like...

"I'm sorry for being on a team where other players "without my knowledge" broke some rules. I'll try to be more careful in the future." You're right, (NCAA regulations committee), I should have had deep insight, or spoken to a psychic prior to playing with these misguided men.

In my letter to the NCAA, I put:

Well they obviously knew about it on Wednesday, so I'm sure Pollard is looking into it already. Honestly I hope Lucca gets a lawyer and sues the NCAA, backed by both ISU and WSU. I posted about this on Wazzu's msg board already this morning.
