Actually, if it weren't for Fred's transfer plan, we would be ****ed. None of them have gotten in trouble while our two brain children have both found ways to mess up.

Yes. There have been rumors floating around that Godfrey wasn't on the most solid ground with the staff for months.

My guess is that Godfrey screwed up which earned him his February suspension. And then didn't fully buy-in to the second chance talk given by the staff. And then an arrest this weekend. And bu-bye.

I can believe Godfrey wasn't on solid ground. But it's dumb to think that Hoiberg signed a guy hoping that Godfrey would **** up.

what a bummer....
On the bright side, another scholarship opens up?

We need to win NOW!!!! we are the only BCS school not to play in a tournament of any kind the last few years. I'm tired of losing players and then think that is okay because we can start over with a new one. We needed CG badly next year. The Big 12 is no place to have a thin front line and his loss badly hurts our chances of making the tournament next year. I want so badly for this program to make it out of the spring without losing key people. Darn, is our program cursed?

Another thing. Hoiberg played college ball, he knows the stuff that goes on. He played in the NBA, he knew about all the weed those guys smoked. Weed is a huge part of college and pro basketball culture. I wonder how much precautionary work he put in to avoiding this problem?

Bout time someone said this. This is ********. weed was clearly not affecting his game and as far as i or anyone else knows his academics either. Just straight up ********. ****in gov needs to step up and do something about these bogus laws. :realmad:

Hmmmm.... I always seemed to remember drugs being illegal and bad. Guess what.. Never tried them. No need to try them. No desire to try them.

Alcohol is a different story. I did that when it was illegal for me. Why?? Because after a certain age it is legal.

I know many guys that smoke weed. Most of my friends started in high school and to be honest, they still seem goofy and reluctant to grow up.

honestly, a lot of high school kids might be just as big of risks as veteran guys .... even if they are transfers. So it could honestly be a wash.

Take a chance on a guy who has 2 years to play RIGHT NOW
or Take a chance on a guy who will hopefully be ready to play 3 years down the road (AND, provided he stays out of trouble as well.)
This. The track record of our freshman has been less than stellar.

Godfrey gets kicked off, yet railey is still on the team? makes know sense to me at all

This was Godfrey's 2nd known drug-related offense assuming his prior suspension was due to a failed drug test. Fred had to boot him.

Railey's most recent issue was minor in nature and was not grounds for dismissal. But one more screw=up and he'll be gone, too.

Godfrey's dismissal puts added importance on signing Percy Gibson this spring.

Alcohol is much worse for you. Those guys would probably be goofy and reluctant to grow up without weed. Do some real research on it, not what the D.E.A. says and you'll find some rather shocking stuff.

Honestly, this isn't that big of a deal for the next two seasons. We just need to fill that spot with someone that can develop into a good player by 2013-14 and give us 5-10 min game in the mean time. Wrap up Gibson, and that would go a long way towards us forgetting CG.

It also, may actually help us land Gibson, as it means more time for Percy, sooner.

Now our post players are White who I think will be great but has yet to play in a College basketball game, Anthony Booker who I havent seen play and Jordan Railey.. We could be in trouble there. Why do players risk the chance to play Division 1 basketball for stupid stuff? I would dream to have the talent and athletic ability as someone like Godfrey. So disappointing. This is going to be a long summer until the season starts. Knowing we are Iowa State I'm sure there will be more bad news. I usually try to stay positive about ISU basketball but this just sucks.

Godfrey was a big risk when we took him. Other schools shied away, IIRC. He blew his chance.

Sucks, but I'm not shocked.

I'm not shocked either. But it definitely sucks. Godfrey had such a big upside.
I was giddy thinking about him on the 2012-2013 team.
I'm really getting sick of a transfer or dismissal every few months. Its starting to sour me on college hoops, and I hate that. Here's to hoping we are really good next year and its exercises all of our demons.
