This thread isn't about whether or not pot should be legalized. The fact is it isn't right now. He got caught with it once, Fred told him to knock it off and he didn't. Godfrey came in with baggage and probably one strike already. Fred was left with no choice but to kick him off.

This is an interesting point, but the only (ONLY) reason it will ever become legal is because a majority of 535 idiots in Washington who can't balance a checkbook and have no business making laws for us, see it as another source of income...

most of which is confiscated from Americans!

And the only reason it is illegal is because a lot of people are completely misinformed (thanks to a lot of scare tactics) and the pharmaceutical industry is more than happy to have a cheap substitute for their products removed from the market.

This brings back memories of Elmer R., one night the guy was amazing, the next night he looked like he had no idea what a basketball was. Probably not a coincidence the two had similar paths. Really a waste for ISU and CG.

Hmmmm.... I always seemed to remember drugs being illegal and bad. Guess what.. Never tried them. No need to try them. No desire to try them.

Alcohol is a different story. I did that when it was illegal for me. Why?? Because after a certain age it is legal.

I know many guys that smoke weed. Most of my friends started in high school and to be honest, they still seem goofy and reluctant to grow up.

So you just leave morality up to the whims of legislators?

I'll never understand why someone will imbibe alcohol but be totally opposed to pot just because its legal or not. Doesn't make sense, unless you didn't drink until you were of the legal age to do so. IMO, if you are cool with alcohol being legal, you should have no reservations about pot being legal. It isn't harmless, but its probably less harmful than booze. Alcohol is my drug of choice more because I prefer the effect of it to pot. I think pot can be enjoyed responsibly because I know people who enjoy it responsibly. I've been around a lot of people who smoked and the worst thing that happened was a pizza get devoured.

A 20 year old drinking is breaking the law just like anyone smoking pot is. If your problem is breaking the law, why does something eventually being legal make it easier for you to break the law when it isn't legal? That's illogical.

Not really, just because the jacka$$es in California have partially legalized it doesn't make it right. You see in most states, if something is ILLEGAL, you don't do it.

Were the people that drank during prohibition bad people?

Potheads, please don't derail the thread. I love doing blow off of hookers' *****, but I don't feel the need to advocate for the legalization of said behavior every chance I get.

Pot is illegal and appears to be for the foreseeable future.

You clearly don't love blow and/or hookers enough. Get out there and be an evangelist, man!

This. I suspect him being booted has much more to do with Calvin once again betraying Fred's trust, than it does with him getting caught with pot. The crime is immaterial.

That is probably the dumbest thing I've ever read. Its wrong on many levels and makes no sense.

Exactly. And I don't think they had faith that he would stay out of trouble in the future.

I don't blame Hoiberg for kicking him off. He broke team rules. You can break a rule and not a law. I'm sure there are some teams that don't allow drinking even if you are of age (i assume this is a rule at BYU).

I just don't think people should jump on a someone's throat and say they are a bad person for smoking weed.

Since thread is already hijacked, I thought I would point out that you aren't very knowledgeable about marijuana and its effects on brain development especially in decision making areas of the brain in people who are ages 15-25.

It's too bad this kid made a mistake, but I think we're still going in the right direction.

So by your logic, drinking was "right" until 1919, "wrong" for about 15 years, and then "right" again?

I won't argue about the legality of weed, but morality and legality simply aren't always congruent.

why because you are a liberal, or you think the government needs to find new tax revenue sources?

You don't know **** about marijuana prohibition. STFU. I really wish CG would have made better decisions, but you have to understand nobody thinks they are going to get caught. He probably wasn't out smoking a J in the middle of lincoln way, just sitting in his apartment and it smelled. Bad luck + bad decision = bad outcome (I knew I'd use my calc in the real world :twitcy:)

Lol, LZClone, i love you calling everyone who disagrees with you 'potheads'.

Some of us are just libertarians, who believe the government should stay out of people's lives. (I'm one of them. I dont use marijuana but i do drink) That includes what substances they choose to use that affect only themselves.

If youre going to go hardcore conservative, you probably disagree with the massive increase in govt scope the last 80 years. In which case i'll ask you: why did it take a constitutional amendment to ban alcohol, but not drugs? You should come to the conclusion that it is an overreach of federal powers.

This may be the dumbest dumb thing I have ever read....

1st Pot does NOT cure anything

2nd It may act as an appetite enhancer, a pain reliever, but it is taken into the body BY SMOKING. Check your government FDA regulations about smoking. Causes more harm than good. EVEN IF IT IS POT.

I can just see litigation in the future.... Hey things are good, I can eat now, even though I have cemo. I have very little pain from my glaucoma. But I really need to sue someone due to the lung cancer I have.

morons

Between this news and PSN still being down life doesn't seem worth living.

Godfrey was likely never going to be a big time player but he was the perfect role player to have on your team and you definitely need guys like that to be successful.

He'll turn up at another program soon enough. I really enjoyed watching him play. Too bad.
