For the 433rd time, a school being in an area doesn't "deliver" a market. Air Force brings next to nothing besides a pulse. Louisville doesn't bring a whole helluva lot either. Kentucky is the big dog in the state. A Big 12 Network is probably nowhere close to existence. We just signed away second tier rights for 13 years unless that contract is void now.

You think adding UTEP, Wyoming, and Boise State is the difference between the Big 12 staying together or dying?

No, but adding schools like Notre Dame (pipe dream), Arkansas (pipe dream), Louisville (a school that is 21st in the nation in AD revenue is not nearly the little brother people want to make them out to be), BYU, New Mexico, Colorado St, and/or Air Force could be the difference between the Big 12 staying together or dying...

Obviously not but if they have to add 3 teams to stay alive, you do it.

See

I'm all about adding teams that bring in worthwhile markets. Memphis is another team that would make a lot of sense.

When it comes time to renew Tier 1 rights, yes it will. If the Big 12 can show they have presence in additional TV markets, that will bring more money.

So what schools would you add? I don't think ND or Arkansas is being realistic...

Texas an OU can hold all of this together if they really want to. They both know if they save this league, one of them will probably be playing in a national championship 5 out of every 10 years. The team that wins the red river shootout will have a great chance of running the table and being in the national championship game, every year. That would probably not be the case in any other conference.

Texas and OU have to sit down and have a heart to heart and compromise on what they want. Texas may have to give in on a few things and so does OU. A&M and its cry baby, little brother, *****-*** ***** inferiority complex was 95% of the Big 12's problem. Texas and OU both know that the Big 12 is where the gettin is good.

As far as the other schools, KU and Mizzou are the only other ones that may have any sort of pull in the fiasco, but is very minute. Right now, the only other viable option for them is the Big East. Would you rather roll the dice with a now more stable Big 12 with the sheep ******* Aggies out of equation or jump to another unstable and shaky Big East that is probably just as vulnerable as we are? We are all making a **** ton more money in the Big 12.

A 9 team Big 12 will be okay in the short term and give us the opportunity to court other universities to get to 12 in the next few years. As much as I think Houston is a stupid invite, I'd be okay with it if it gave us a sense of stability. BYU is the next big get that we need to lock up in the next 2 years. If we can go a couple years without someone threatening to leave, trust can be built back up.

If the current schools truly band together this time, losing A&M may be a very good thing for the conference. We can all watch their football program die in the SEC. Be careful what you wish for aggie. Again, if the Horns and the Sooners want this to work, it will work.

A year ago I was sure I was witnessing the end of Cyclone athletics. This time around I have no doubt we'll land on our feet.

Didn't FedEx offer $10 million last year to any AQ conference that decided to take Memphis?

I agree to an extent, but for instance Louisville wont bring the Kentucky market, but they will bring the Lousiville market which is #50, Cincinatti wouldnt bring Ohio but it would bring the #33, not huge markets but not small either...

I never thought I would so strongly agree with UT fans in an argument over the Big XII Conference, but in reading Twitter I have. And I've come to realize just how stupid every A&M fan truly is. Seriously, it's almost unbelievable.

No it doesn't. The Big East has how many millions of people in their footprint? Markets mean zilch when the school doesn't deliver them. That's how the Big 10 Network is successful. They are top dog in every state in their footprint. St. John's would be the hottest commodity in the country if TV markets meant anything. St. John's isn't because they don't deliver squat. Does Northwestern deliver Chicago? No.

Why wouldn't they? Honest question.

Memphis makes K-State look like an Ivy League school. They offered $10,000,000 to BCS conferences last year and no one would take them. The University Presidents would laugh if Beebe presented Memphis.

9 teams = 8 conference games per team. 9 x 8 = 72/2 = 36 total games in conference...but first tier takes what, 12ish? So they'd have to come up with 16 non-conference.

Plus two Texas games will be shown on the LHN. In any case, it looks like 9 teams would still be doable as long as Fox doesn't have a cancellation cause.

I like the idea of Houston. It helps Texas stay put and if Texas really is close to ND that would be the greatest get ever. If we could add Houston, ND and BYU we would be back to 12 and a very solid conference. I know it's a long shot, but there's a chance.

Although they suck, UNLV would be a nice little addition (for the fans) I know the Big XII would never add them
