You think adding UTEP, Wyoming, and Boise State is the difference between the Big 12 staying together or dying?
Obviously not but if they have to add 3 teams to stay alive, you do it.

No, but adding schools like Notre Dame (pipe dream), Arkansas (pipe dream), Louisville (a school that is 21st in the nation in AD revenue is not nearly the little brother people want to make them out to be), BYU, New Mexico, Colorado St, and/or Air Force could be the difference between the Big 12 staying together or dying...
I'm all about adding teams that bring in worthwhile markets. Memphis is another team that would make a lot of sense.
For the 433rd time, a school being in an area doesn't "deliver" a market. Air Force brings next to nothing besides a pulse. Louisville doesn't bring a whole helluva lot either. Kentucky is the big dog in the state. A Big 12 Network is probably nowhere close to existence. We just signed away second tier rights for 13 years unless that contract is void now.

and the University Presidents would never ok Memphis so that idea can be thrown out.
A year ago I was sure I was witnessing the end of Cyclone athletics. This time around I have no doubt we'll land on our feet.

No it doesn't. The Big East has how many millions of people in their footprint? Markets mean zilch when the school doesn't deliver them. That's how the Big 10 Network is successful. They are top dog in every state in their footprint. St. John's would be the hottest commodity in the country if TV markets meant anything. St. John's isn't because they don't deliver squat. Does Northwestern deliver Chicago? No.When it comes time to renew Tier 1 rights, yes it will. If the Big 12 can show they have presence in additional TV markets, that will bring more money.
Why wouldn't they? Honest question.
9 teams = 8 conference games per team. 9 x 8 = 72/2 = 36 total games in conference...but first tier takes what, 12ish? So they'd have to come up with 16 non-conference.
