“If I start discussing too much detail, I’d compromise. We obviously want stability in our conference relationships. We want partners that are above outstanding, both athletically and academically. A conference that’s strong is not only stable, but it’s one in which there are multiple relationships, along with sports, between university members. We have some great partners in the existing Big 12.

OU commits to the Big 12, expects it to be strong, and stable.

See, now I'm a journalist.

The reason why OU's comments are troubling:

OU: "We will do what's in the best interest of the University of Oklahoma."

ISU: "We will do what's in the best interest of Iowa State University."

FTFY.

It just so happens "We will do what's in the best interest of ISU" at the present moment equals "We are committed to the Big 12".

It's not really a melt down, just lack of people pumping out the optimism to mask the truth of the past week (really past year).

The story has been a roller-coaster but we have the right people to get us through. Have faith in JP. I am sure he is doing all that can be done.

I believe the b12 will survive. If not, we will end up in AQ conference. Our athletics department will be fine. Our school will be fine.

The quotes are the exact same.

And why did the Big East have to expand?

Because teams left the conference for greener pastures. And who did they expand with? Teams looking to step up, not BCS Conference schools.

Sounds like you think the Big East will be stable until other conferences decide to make a move.

I don't see the other conferences making a move frankly. I don't believe the media hype about super conferences. Yep some will go to 16, but not all of them. I don't think ACC wants 16 teams. And Big 10's history has shown me that they will not expand. They did this time to get the title game. Not many reasons for them to expand further unless they can poach ACC and I think the ACC is solid.

That is why I think the Big East is stable. The media does a good job of making people think otherwise with their super conference theory. But it is just a theory right now.

But if the big 12 imploded, who will they be expanding with this time? Ding ding. BIG 12 teams I.e. BCS teams. They will offer every Big 12 leftover they can get.

AND I also don't see more than one or 2 teams leaving. SEC will go to 14 and ACC and BIG 10 will stay at 12 for now.

And how does any of that point to stability?

It doesn't, and as a matter of fact you are making my point for me.

The Big East will not offer stability. It's a short term answer at best.

I don't see a difference.

We know that as of right now, our most lucrative position is in the Big 12. Until the Big 12 blows up, it's in the best interest of ISU to stay here.

Also, if we had a good plan somewhere, Pollard would NEVER betray his hand.

I still don't understand how this Texas's fault. I am no fan of the horns but what exactly have they done? They don't have the wandering eye. OU does (reportedly).

Unequal tv sharing? Still not sure why this is wrong. Regardless, the other schools agreed to it.

The longhorn network? Why is it wrong for them to capitalize on their strong brand? They offered a&m a chance to share. And OU is trying to do the same. Why is it Texas's fault that OU can't get it going?

I guess they are an easy target because they are the top dog but I still don't get why. You can bet that if ISU could get a network with ESPN, we would be for it.
Because they are jinxed.

I don't get Boren. He has to know that comments like his throws ice cold water on every prospective member the conference is trying to get.
Wrong. Prospective members aren't relying on media reports to gauge conference stability. Smart men in high places are having closed-door conversations that we probably know nothing about. Doesn't mean that something good for ISU will come of all this, but it does mean that it's not worth freaking out every 5 minutes after some stupid *** media report hits the web.

Rep gun needs reloading.

Some people just don't get it, refuse to do the research to get it, and simply won't get it until a year or three from now ISU comes out just fine in the end.

I won't start worrying unless I hear rumors that Baylor prez Ken* has a new round of lawsuit threats. If Baylor is ok with what's going on, must be good.

This is actually a good point. Strange isn't it how Baylor went quiet all of a sudden...how the Texas legislature said if A&M was leaving they would have to take a look at it and now they say they are not going to do that?? Interesting change of positions on both accords.

You are wrong. The media didn't say it, Boren did. The president of OU

There is nothing Pollard can do. Who would answer his calls? What can he offer? The best hope was in the conference surviving and growing

That is BS. You are selling our program short. Yes, our best hope is the Big XII surviving, but it is not doom and gloom if it doesn't. We will still be in a BCS conference if it doesn't. And Pollard is working ensure that.

Baylor went quiet because the got ******* slapped when they did open their mouth. Ken Starr is a fool.

Still waiting for a link to your supposed Sooner message board posting from a few pages back.

Okay, time to call you out. You have no problem calling everyone else out, but have provided ZERO facts, links, or even logic to back up your statements.

Until you can back something up, you are just flinging stuff against the wall and calling people out who don't take it as gospel.
