Bull ****. OU can stop it. The Big 12 schools can stop it. They don't want to stop it, apparently.

Seriously. This isn't "invetiable". It only happens if the big schools in the Big XII decide it is going to. The Big XII holds all the cards right now. They can stop this whole thing by solidifying. But it looks like instead of doubling down it is going to fold.

Sounds like KU to ACC has a lot of steam. Coach K and Roy Williams making the push.

OK...stupid question. But if OU is willing to play with UT in the PAC with the pain of dealing with the different timezones and logistics for all their sports then WHY in the sam hell wouldn't they be ok with staying in the B12 and playing UT there?? What is gained by a move to the PAC if UT is included with OU??? Why not stay in your own backyard and play??

All the "experts" are using their "sources" to predict what will happen with the conferences-oops-most missed Syracuse and Pitt to ACC-

Can someone explain how a BCS conference is awarded? What would actually have to happen for the Big 12 to lose it's BCS AQ?

and if anyone answers $$$ that is BS. Once Tier 1 in the B12 is renegotiated it will be close the the PAC and with the extra travel costs associated with a PAC move the B12 would probably be favorable from a financial standpoint.

Well, we could win the West. It still makes me sick though. That's a huge step down academically for Iowa State. Would that conference be an auto qualifier?

Maybe, but TCU, Baylor and Houston would dominate the West. Partial qualifiers might've back in play and KState would do well with that. ISU would struggle long-term.

It would be nice to have a chance in every game we play.

You are comparing a current B12 ISU to other teams that would be elevated in this scenario. This would be bad on solo many levels and eventually we would fall behind in this league.

Because in the Pac 12, Texas won't run the show. OU's ego will be soothed by the fact that they're now equal players in a league

Which is actually a step down for them. Instead of being #2 with 8 who have no power, they will be one of 14 or 16 with equal power.

whyso negative...ISU will compete well this year in the Big 12, no reason to think they won't compete well in a league where all of the historical powers are gone...in fact look at it as an opportunity to become a mid level power...not that i want that to happen, but what league do you think we would compete well in?

Because the Pac-X and Scott will force Tejas to the bargaining table and get concessions. Most likely, the LHN will become the Texas, OU, OU, TxTech channel with equal (or very close to it) revenue for those four schools in the regional network plan outlined by Scott previously. OU will have an equal say and equal revenue as Tejas and the larger conference politics will have effectively killed the UT stranglehold on controlling the conference in which it resides. OU basically sees the move as a way to get Tejas to play fair. If the BigXII survives with Tejas still involved, then the LHN as it exists today will still allow Tejas to effectively run things.

Re: Big XII needs a New Commissioner

Does BeBee actually get paid for doing a job (not sure exactly what his job is...)?

You can't project a current ISU, with the full benefits of the B12, into a lesser conference. ISU would feel the effects over time and TCU, Baylor, Houston would rise to the top of the league and be the new "South". I am not being negative, people are wanting to project more success at a lower level for ISU, without factoring fewer donations, fewer tix sales, smaller recruiting ground, less TV revenue, etc. I have to just give up trying to point this out, it's exhausting.

OK what we know

1 Pittsburgh and Syracuse are in the ACC
2 Texas A&M is heading to the SEC
3 OU and Texas have BOR meetings monday to decide what conference they will be in
4 The Big 12 TV deal is better than what the Big East has
5 There is a gentlemans agreement between the SEC schools that it won't add another school from a state that has an SEC team in it already

What else am I missing?

you may well be right, but thats too much for me to process all at once- going to a lesser conference and then sucking in it? One blow at a time, one blow at a time...
