Well, it was in good shape... its very possible nobody better wanted the job due to word about Currie. Martin making a lateral move out was pretty damning of Currie (especially with the reported comments from Snyder saying he should get out).

Very true, and I wouldn't even consider that a lateral move. That's slightly downward, in my opinion. K-State fans at least want to care about basketball.

I am assuming qualifed guys like Steve Henson wanted that job badly in spite of Currie. Weber royally hosed up a talented team at Illinois this past season and he even admitted it. It is mind boggling to me that Currie hired Weber over the likes of someone like Henson and others.

Also, South Carolina is not a lateral move for Martin. Carolina has underachieved since the early 70s and Martin will be much closer to his South Florida recruiting turf.

K-State couldn't have done much better IMO. With that said, I don't think Weber is a good coach, and he will find it tougher to recruit to Manhattan.

Maybe they should have hired Mitch Richmond!
Good luck to K-State with a guy that can recruit but can't coach.

I'm not exactly overwhelmed by the hire, but I don't believe that Illinois is a top 15 job. A very good one, but not that good.

I question the level of administrative support for athletics at Illinois. While they upgraded the football stadium recently, their football complex in total probably lags behind much of the rest of the Big Ten. Assembly Hall was a top notch arena 40 years ago. They should have the booster support to get this stuff done.

Does the university president give athletics the level of support it needs? We saw what that was like at ISU under Parks/Urick.

He is not Martin...and that is a good thing for us..

yep, he's a poor man's Scott Drew...also he reminds me of Chewy as far as personality and losing the locker room...that's a bad combo.

While not a great coach, I think KSU could have done a LOT worse.

I just tried watching his press conference and only made it about 5 minutes. He couldn't stop stumbling through his words and pulling things out of his *** it was embarrassing.

Yes I got that from the EMAW thread, they hate that man. He was basically begging for Martins staff to stick around.
