Weber knows how to coach, but he's been woefully inept at attracting talent. He did great with Self's recruits (who were all studs), but I don't think Illinois has sent a player to the NBA since that 2005 runner-up squad.

Self left the cupboard fully stocked at Illinois and Weber strolled in and reaped the rewards that first year. Reminds me of Dr. Tom coming in and having a huge first season with the talent Raveling left him.

It will be interesting to see how Weber recruits to K-State...he won't have Chicago in his backyard anymore

If I were a K-State fan Id be severly underwhelmed. Frank Martin could make you cry with a stare. Bruce Weber does not care if you stare while he cries. Quite the change.

If this is true I would be interested to see what KSU fans think about this. If Weber can't recruit very well at Illinois I don't see how he can do any better at KSU.

I think this is a decent hire. He'll do things the right way and they won't have to worry about NCAA violations. He's not as flashy as Frank, but he'll be solid. Good coach to have in the Big 12.

You never know. Sometimes coaches that are perceived to be bad, can do well after a change.

But I'm leaning towards this won't work out well for KSU. I'm certainly not scared of Weber.

He only had success after he stepped into a great situation by Self.

With that said, he'll have a fair amount of talent at KSU as well next year.

Pullen doesn't play for K State and those are obvious sour grapes. I don;t put any stock into Pullen's opinion on this.

I think it's an average hire at best but I don't know the options available to them. I would have like to see Doug hired and then fail.
