I love this I just hope they suck and Weber doesn't pull something out.

Funny how most of the people that think it's a bad hire are message board dorks. Who else is K State gonna get? They probably should have hired an assistant under Martin, Underwood?, but maybe he turned them down and they wanted to start with a clean slate.

To the people who say Bruce couldn't recruit, are you blind? Look at his current roster and the commits he has coming in for 2013. He lost the locker room and it was time for him to go at Illinois but K State is a step below, at least, than Illinois and he will be able to get guys in at K State, See Patrick Beverly, Stefhon Hannah, that couldn't have gotten into Illinois.

Call me a homer but this is a good hire for Kansas State. Wildkitty fans were ****** when Frank Martin was hired and look what happened.

I think this is a very good hire. K-State will continue to be a solid program in the Big 12.

Jacob Pullen made himself into a great player, but he was a huge academic risk in high school, that's why we wasn't recruited by Illinois.

Weber can recruit and coach. But he's like McDermott in that he's a better fit at a mid-major. He couldn't keep a bunch of talent together at Illinois and it wasn't just this season. I'm glad he's gone from Illinois and it should be fun watching how he does at purple Kansas. Their fans are spoiled and arrogant to think they could do better. The only reason they've had any relevance lately is thanks to Huggins and they sold their soul to get him. They deserve to take their rightful place back at the bottom.

As for Pullen, he's full of ****. He couldn't qualify at Illinois, a school with actual academic standards.

Ever since Bill Self's players were gone from Illinois, Weber and Illinois haven't gone farther than the 2nd round of the NCAA tourney. Not too impressive, considering Wayne Morgan and Hoiberg have already matched that success.

Funny...I don't remember ANY KSU fans being upset when Martin was hired. I remember them all wanting it to be Martin to hold on to the players they had.

The Martin hire and the Weber hire are in no way similar.

I think it's a great hire for KSU. Of course, I mean great in that it's another team we can expect to finish ahead of in the standings on a yearly basis.

This guy is a slightly better McDermott. I have never seen a team mail it in like this year's ILL team. I am just thrilled.

Weber agreed to a 5-year contract, which was approved by the K-State Athletics, Inc., Board of Directors and President Kirk Schulz. Weber will be paid $1.5 million in 2012-13 and will receive a $100,000 base salary increase each year remaining on the contract ($1.6 million in 2013-14, $1.7 million in 2014-15, $1.8 million in 2015-16 and $1.9 million in 2016-17).

Starting ~$100K above what Frank was making.

Two tournament wins in his last seven years, at a top 15 job.

Self inherited the Illinois job in very good shape from Lon Kruger, and Bruce Weber inherited the job in great shape from Self. 8 years later, Illinois couldn't find anyone to take the job.

K-State's program is in better shape than it's been in over a quarter century. And this is who they decide to hand the keys to?

Hopefully, John Currie doesn't play on being the AD much longer.

Well, it was in good shape... its very possible nobody better wanted the job due to word about Currie. Martin making a lateral move out was pretty damning of Currie (especially with the reported comments from Snyder saying he should get out).

Hopefully he's still AD when the old man decides to retires again. I'd love to see him destroy both KSU football and basketball.

I'm not exactly overwhelmed by the hire, but I don't believe that Illinois is a top 15 job. A very good one, but not that good.
