Why does everyone assume Pelle is ready to play from Day 1?? I know Lockett is, thus he is my number 1.

Uthoff with 3yrs, good student, smart player, Iowa native....he's my #2 simply because he can't play this year.

Pelle has too many questions and I'm not sure his game is even ready. I'd take him in a heartbeat if the other two didn't workout, but he is an unknown. He reminds me a bit of the kid we signed late the year Hoiberg came in that Mcdermott recruited first from Maryland or someplace. He transferred after last year. He looked damn impressive in his videos too and was no where near ready for big time ball.

Edit: McKnight is the guy
Your comparing Eric McKnight to a 5 star center that was in the top 20 of his class. I think Norvel will be ready to play if he ever gets here.

I'm assuming you didn't think Royce White was ready to play this year either correct? Or all the other five star recruits that have been one and done to the NBA?

But if Pelle doesn't live up to the hype next year like you foolishly think, all that means is we get all that talent and upside for at least one more year.

If Pelle decides on ISU later on in June (and for sure is eligible), take all 3 by sending Uthoff to MCC for a season. He can still spend plenty of time around the ISU program at MCC while playing for one season instead of sitting out for two straight seasons.

This seems like a blatant recruiting violation to me. If he goes to a JUCO on his own and then chooses ISU later, great, but you can't tell a player go play here and we'll take you in a year. I'm pretty sure the NCAA would come down extremely hard on what is essentially having a farm system with a local JUCO.

I don't know if he's ready or not but we currently only have 2 true PFs on our roster let alone a center. (I consider Niang like Ejim a tweener that will play the 4 in Fred's system)

Players get placed all the time, Willoughby at Indian Hills by Floyd. You here of it more often in football when HSers don't qualify. Problem is he'd play for a year and you never know where that takes him or who'd come calling next year when he no longer has to sit a year..

1. Uthoff
2. Pelle
3. Lockett

Get Uthoff Now. Long term will fit nicely with Niangs Game. Then wait on Pelle. If he doesn't clear keep Bubu on scholarship.

This. I don't really get why they're even after Lockett. Adding a SR to a SR-laden roster at a position where they already have two solid starters in Babb and Clyburn? Why? Get Uthoff and hold the other for Pelle. If he doesn't make it, keep Bubu on scholarship.

Maybe Fred knows what he's doing.

Lockett is a proven baller. What if we sustain a critical injury this year? (We have been lucky on that front thus far) I agree with what C-Willy alluded to in the chat today, that Lockett could be the difference in getting a few more wins next season than we would get otherwise. A few more wins could be the difference between a real good season and a great season. Imagine if we had a couple more wins under our belt this past season heading into the tournament!!?

Its because the chance of Pelle qualifying is nearly zero.

If we would have beat Drake and UNI in the beginning of the season I think we might have been able to slip into a 7 seed, either way, I agree with what you're saying, an injury anywhere in the front or back court could be devastating.

I think there is a difference in getting placed and choosing a JUCO. When a player get's placed, you essentially are asking the NCAA to find a recruiting violation somewhere. Now if they chose to go to JUCO and have an open recruitment that is different. Nothing to say you couldn't have a player decided he was going to ISU after a year, but he has to at least let other schools recruit him or else I would think the NCAA would be looking really hard into the matter.
