I tend to drink whatever is cheapest and it just so happens that Es Tas had 4.50 pitchers of Shiner Bock tonight. Tomorrow they will be 5 bucks, but I'll still probably head over.

Few things make me miss the Midwest more than the cheap draft beer. A guy is lucky if he can find a pint for $4.50 in DC, even during happy hour.

Huge beer snob and proud of it. I won't touch Bud Light, Miller Lite, Coors, etc., but I don't look down on those who do.

I like wheat beers, ales, IPA's, but I think I like the darker stouts and porters more than anything else.

Thankfully, I live in a Colorado mountain town with a lot of good places to get affordable, good beers, as well as a great microbrewery/restaurant within biking distance as well.

Speaking of AlaskaGuy, you're up in Craig, right? I think we've talked before; I live in Steamboat Springs, so I'm guessing that's the town you're talking about driving to 40 miles away? Hell dude, next time you plan on coming down, send me a pm and I'll buy you a pint at Mahagony Ridge.

I prefer hard alcohol. Mostly pulls then chased. However I will drink any beer too if it's free or cheap.

here in Fort Collins, there is no such thing as beer snobs, because everybody drinks micro's. Except on 4th of July when High Life has red white and blue cans.

By drink's micro's do you mean smoke bowls?

Some might consider me to be a beer snob, but I mostly like to try beers that I've never had before. I've got a fridge full of beer that I've never had before thanks to a couple recent trips to Minnesota and Wisconsin. Tonight I enjoyed a stout from South Shore in Ashland, Wisconsin. Tomorrow will likely be the black IPA from New Glarus. I would never buy one of the big three when there is something more "interesting" available to drink, but I would also never turn up my nose at the big three if that is all that is being served.

Al is the beer fanatic on here. I only drink craft beers, but don't hate on others that drink mainstreams. I have seen some fights break out because of that crap.

There are a few of us on here actually...since my recent move to Chicago, I've had to limit myself because the selection is so much more incredible here. Here's one for ya, Budweiser owns Goose Island, but Goose Island makes the best beer i have ever had (and the beer i have paid the most for) in Bourbon County. Does that make me a bad person because I'm supporting Bud (InBev)?

Personally, I define beer snob not so much what you drink, but your position on what others drink. You can refuse to drink anything but one particular specific beer and think that everything else tastes like urine to you, and not be a beer snob, so long as when confronted with others who think differently, your reaction is "Eh, to each their own".

My personal preference is more along ownership. My go-to beer, especially this time of year is Point Special Lager...a Bud/Miller/Coor type beer that's from a small brewery, but I'll drink most anything if it strikes my fancy. I tend to shy away from the mega-companies and all their owned microbrewed brands (blue moon, goose island, Leine's, etc.), but that's just something I do for the feeling of supporting the people who are driving innovation right now.

Do you beer drinkers enjoy the taste of it? Or just drink it to get smashed? I dont understand because it does neither of the two. Im not trying to cause a rant, i just dont get it.

#1: Yes, most of us.
#2: Personally I don't drink it to get smashed at all, much the opposite, I specifically drink to enjoy it and only rarely (like less than 5 times in the last 8 years), and accidentally, 'get smashed'. Put it this way, for those who appreciate good beer, they're definitely not paying $15-$20 for a 22 ounce bottle to 'get smashed'.

Even if I don't particularly crave a certain style, I can definitely appreciate a well brewed beer for the brewer's ability to make magic out of the same basic ingredients...barley, hops, yeast, and water. (and snobs, stop blathering about purity with the Reinheitsgebot, it was originally more about taxes than purity)

If you don't like the taste, that's fine. more for us. However, I'd be willing to bet that given 6 months, I could find a beer you really enjoyed.

I used to be more of a snob about quality beers, but i have a place for regular domestics, especially when its just a mass drinking thing like Cy's House of Trivia. That said, if i have a choice i love a great beer. Give me some beer from a brewpub or some of the beers at Hessen Haus, or anything out of Shiner.

As for enjoying the taste, yes, i enjoy the taste of a good beer. Some people will never like beer, but i think there are also a lot that 'dont like beer' that have never been exposed to a beer that would fit them better.
