Yes, I've met a couple of gopher fans too who are undecided about whether they should go after Fred, because Fred hasn't done enough over a longer period.
Wow. And I thought EIU fans were delusional.

Are you hoping that if you tell yourself that enough times, it will come true?
So we're not supposed to pretend to know what a coach is thinking, but A) you believe the only place he'd go is the NBA, and B) you laugh at the thought of him leaving for Minnesota.
Okay.
If you can't live in Ames on a million plus a year...you're doing it wrong.
We need to pay Fred...and the others. But keep in mind that Ames doesn't cost what NY or LA do.
It's not about money...and I'd live in Ames in a heartbeat...especially with kids and my family being there.
I think Fred stays the course...and does great things at ISU.
You mean until his kids are graduated after playing 4 years of cyclone MBB, which incidentally will be some of his national titles...Fred isn't leaving for a college program. He will be an NBA coach but not until his kids are graduated from High School.
Maybe we should hire you for our coach??
Fred also made over $10M in the NBA. He doesnt seem like the kind of guy that would spend that on blow and strippers, so he probaly invested it well. That plus making $1.5M in Iowa, living in his hometown, coaching the team he loves goes along way to living a good life.

it's got to be so much less stress than the NBA would be. I'm no expert, but I wouldn't be worried about him leaving until his kids are headed to college. Ames is a great place to raise a family.

I imagine the biggest difference is not having to deal with recruiting.
Honestly, I have no clue what NBA coaches do in their off-season.
