I am going to my first A's game at the Coliseum (I don't care what it's called now - it will always be the Coliseum to me) at the end of this month. Despite having lived in the Bay Area for ten years (85-95), I never made it to an A's game. Something always interfered when we would make plans to check them out. But this time I am visiting SF with a friend who is going to a conference for work and he wanted someone who knew the area to go with him. My arm really had to be twisted to talk me into it... The Giants are out of town on those days, but we will still tour AT&T Park - a must see for any baseball fan who visits the area out there. Absolutely spectacular ballpark! Don't get me started on the food choices... so good! Anyway, I'm excited to see the A's play the Angels - should be good!

I've been to several games at "Oakland Alameda Coliseum", always shocked by how cool it is in the middle of August. Usually end-up having to buy a sweater. I'm going to see the Diamondbacks in Phoenix in 24 days, that should not be cold, I hope.

LA Dodgers. Ever since I remember. My dad is a huge fan as well. My 1st memories are when I was 8 yrs old. Dodgers vs Yankees 1978 WS. Was sick with the flu watching the games from my bed. I loved the infield of Cey, Russell, Lopes, and Garvey.

Cincinnati. Been a fan all my life. Been a lot of lean years over the last 20 years, but nothing like the lowly Cubs!

I am an Astro fan. I noticed there were no other Astros fans on the board, but someone did mention they should be one of the first teams to be eliminated from the playoffs along with the Cubs. They have been the worst team in baseball the last two years. I don't think they are going to be the worst this year. Their farm system is loaded with talent, and even their pitching is showing some positive signs. Hated when they moved to the American league. I also think well of the Cubs, and the Twins, but when I was young, I liked outer space, sci fi and such, and even thought their previous title the Colt 45's was nice. Generally, I have been following the Astros for 50 years, and I am not going to change no matter how bad they are.

He probably hasn't had a chance to post yet. Maybe now that they are in the American league, I will go to Minneapolis for a game.

I thought it would be fun to start a conversation on who our favorite MLB teams are and why in honor of Opening Day...

I'll start.

I'm a Braves fan for a few reasons. 1) Because of TBS. I didn't care for the Cubs and because every Braves game was televised on TBS when I was a kid, I could follow them all summer long. 2) Mom has relatives from Atlanta. The Braves were always her favorite team growing up (she lived in the south).

My first memories of cheering for the Braves come from back in 1991. Twins fans, you know what I'm talking about.

Full disclosure - the Royals are my AL team for the same reasons as above. Growing up in SW Iowa, I could watch them on TV and dad took me to KC for a game or two every summer. I'll never forget watching Ken Griffey Jr., Jay Buhner and Edgar Martinez go back-to-back-to-back in the K one night.

George Brett + Bo Jackson + Hal McRae = awesome times.

Ditto on both accounts.

So cute to see all the Cubs and Twins fans excited today. I'll just wait til October.
