However the twins didn't get screwed. They would have been screwed if they didn't get anything in return.
Now we will wait and see if a contract extension can be agreed upon. That will be the real clencher.
Mets, Mets, Mets!
Yeah, baby!!!!
Mets fan here, BTW.
At least they got something for him. They would have lost him to free agency after this year because they wouldn't have paid him the $20 million per year he would fetch on the open market.

I would have gone with the rest of Santana's contract and 2 first round compensation picks next year. You could pick up two college pitchers in the draft and be in virtually the same spot next year PLUS had Santana pitch for you...
I'm a die hard Twins fan. As much as I hate to see Santana leave, at least we're getting something for him. Also, I'm happy he's not a YANKEE!!!!
Do you see them going after any free agents with the extra $13mil they now have for next season? Are there any decent ones out there?
And by decent, I mean the opposite of RonDL White, Sidney Ponson, Ramon Ortiz, Tony Batista, Bret Boone, etc.............
Another Free Agent sleeper might be Pedo Feliz, but where do you put him on the Twins...
Now that I did not know. Then I would say its a done deal.I think there's no question he'll be signed. Minaya and the Mets can't have gone this far and then say it's too much money. Santana's agent is the same one as Jose Reyes, too, which can't hurt.
