This weekend we went and saw Tom Petty in Minneapolis and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. Got me thinking about some of my fav shows and curious what shows you guys have seen and loved.

1. Paul McCartney
2. Tom Petty
3. Foo Fighters
4. The Rolling Stones
5. Eric Clapton

Also, shows i wish i could/had seen.

1. Pink Floyd at Jack Trice. I was only 15 I think and didn't know who they were.
2. Fleetwood Mac, wasn't able to see them last week at WF.
3. Mumford and Sons. I really want to see them live.
4. David Bowie, I think he would be fun to see

Mayhem about 4 or 5 years ago in Houston.

Went to see Slipknot, but damn was Disturbed on their game that night and stole the show.
Machine was on the second stage and killed it in that little parking lot.
Five Finger Death Punch was just getting ready to explode and was also on the second stage.
36 Crazyfists was pretty good too not that I think about it.

Dragonforce was about the only let down and some how they got the main stage.... they sounded terrible live.

Hands down has to be KnotFest in Somerset, WI last year even though I thought I broke my kneecap for 4 days until I got it x-rayed. Other notable concerts:

Lazerfest 2009 (?) I think. Whichever one had Alice Cooper and Rob Zombie playing
Slipknot/Slayer dual headline show in CR in I think 2004
KISS/Skid Row/Ted Nugent show in 2000

Its more about trying to find affordable tickets that aren't terrible seats then anything.

How much are they running up there? In 09 we paid $180 a ticket for the bottom bowl. Down here in Wichita I think the most expensive ticket is around $100.

Zac Brown Band was pretty stellar live. I don't go to too many "concerts" though. Mostly smaller venues.

The Winterset Metroplex
The Pink Floyd show at the UNI Dome in '87 was better than the one at Cyclone Stadium, mainly because "A Momentary Lapse of Reason" was a better album than "The Division Bell". I was at both of them, and they were both good, but the UNI gig was awesome.

U2 at Carver/Hawkeye in the fall of '87 was a great show. The BoDeans opened and played a great set, but when the lights went down and the first notes of "Where the Streets Have No Name" played, the crowd went absolutely bonkers.

Richard Thompson played an acoustic set at the Temple for the Performing Arts in Des Moines about 6 or 7 years ago that hands down kicked ***. GREAT performance.

And finally, George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers tore the roof off the Fairgrounds Grandstand in the Fall of '85. Johnny "I can't believe he's still alive" Winter opened for them, and it was a great show. The gig was on the first day of two-a-day practices for football my senior year in HS, and when I mentioned the show to the coach, he said "if you're not at that practice, don't bother showing up the next day". I really enjoyed that show.

Those are my top three as of now. I am really looking forward to seeing Kid Rock in three weeks. I've heard he puts on an amazing show.
