Re: Rashad Vaughn

I can make a sign, but I would have to hand it off to someone else to hold up. You can get away with that in the student section easier than the other seats. People get testy because the sign blocks their vision.

Let's just get a group of fans to walk around the upper level with signs during timeouts.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

They should but they won't. Old people that never even stand up and make noise sure as heck won't bring vaughn signs!!

Don't rag on the old folks too hard. Hilton isn't the way it is because of the student section. Student sections are loud and rowdy everywhere. It's everyone else's involvement that puts the atmosphere of Hilton above a lot of other places.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

My eyes just fixated at the word BREAKING NEWS, and I thought it was going to say committed to Iowa State! Shame on you. Not cool...

But Rashad Vaughn is awesome. Awesome people go to Iowa State. Therefore, Rashad Vaughn will go to Iowa State. Pretty simple.

I paid my dues for 7 years (grad school) standing the entire game in the student section during some extremely thin years of ISU basketball. I have earned my right to sit while I eat my $5 clone cone. I get up when conditions warrant.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Whoa, Rashad Vaughn thread off the front page??? :skeptical:

Gopher blog broke down the Recruiting chances Minnesota with the Big 3, and identified Vaughn as the most likely (note the source).
The blogger did a decent breakdown of the Vaughn final 7 teams and the fit for Vaughn.

  1. Arizona: The Wildcats are much more interested in Stanley Johnson and Justise Winslow on the wing, and they have a shot at landing both. There has never been a real buzz connecting Vaughn’s name with Arizona, but that could change if Sean Miller misses out on both Johnson and Winslow. It’s also worth noting that Vaughn’s Findlay Prep teammate, Craig Victor is committed to Arizona.
  2. Baylor: Rashad pondered giving Baylor an early commitment as an underclassmen, but there hasn’t been a ton of buzz between the Bears and Vaughn since. Although major underachievers, Baylor has produced many one-and-dones and first-round draft choices, which is what he is looking for. Scott Drew already has received a commitment from SG Damiyne Durham (not that they wouldn’t make room for Vaughn) and are also pursuing five-star SF Justise Winslow.
  3. Iowa State: Vaughn knows he will be “the man” at Iowa State. He had an INCREDIBLE visit to Ames in the winter, and has an excellent relationship with Fred Hoiberg. Despite not being a powerhouse, Iowa State poses a legitimate threat to the Gophers for Vaughn.
  4. Kansas: As is the case with five-star Kelly Oubre, Kansas is putting on the full-court press to land Vaughn. Possibly the only “blue blood” pursuing Vaughn hard, the Jayhawks are definitely in the running to land Rashad.
  5. North Carolina: UNC is perhaps the most interesting team on Vaughn’s final seven. North Carolina already has two five-star SG/SF commitments in Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson in addition to a point guard commit, Joel Berry. Vaughn could play alongside Pinson, an athletic freak, but Jackson is a similar player who can score at all three levels. Nevertheless, I do think the Tar Heels would accept a commitment from Rashad, and he almost committed in the Spring. I also don’t think playing time is a factor; he’s a very confident player than wouldn’t be worried about Jackson or Pinson potentially stealing some of his minutes.
  6. UNLV: The Rebels didn’t start recruiting Vaughn until the summer. He can visit campus whenever he wants, however, and UNLV is making a strong push. Dave Rice already has one SF commitment, Dwayne Morgan, but Morgan and Vaughn could definitely play alongside each other.

Kansas, North Carolina, Iowa State, and possibly UNLV will be Pitino’s biggest competitors. CHANCE 30%

Signed would have been the correct term. Scott doesn't produce anything.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I do agree that Vaughn is Minnesota's best chance at landing one of the Big 3, that doesn't mean they have good odds to land him though.

Also, up to 53% on the crystal ball. Whether this means anything or not, I'd still rather be picked than not be picked.

Rashad Vaughn's Crystal Ball Predictions

The 3 that pick Minnesota all just happen to work at Goofer sites. That sounds legit.

What a joke forum. I made a post questioning the bashing & asking if anyone had ever even been to Ames. It's gone now. I'm a dual Gopher/ISU fan, but ISU is WAAAAY out in front.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well, this team is probably the highest rated nationally coming into the season. I'd probably say last years team was the second worst. Even though we lose a lot off of last years team, we also bring back two 4 year starters, an all Big XII candidate and a top 50 recruit in the starting lineup.

To be honest though, it's hard to differentiate between the 3 teams. You could make a case for any of them, I suppose.

Bubu would have pushed us even higher.

I had a couple posts there that were deleted that were completely on-topic and weren't bashing anybody. (also a bit of a Gopher fan since I grew up in Minnesota watching Bobby Jackson, etc.)

Strange moderator activity over there.

Gopher fans are dumb if they think they even have a 30 percent chance of getting him.
