Re: Rashad Vaughn

So using his name on signs isn't allowed (hence signs with his name were taken away while signs such as "Showtime" stayed), but what about a big head? I ask because it'd be awesome if the group who has the huge Niang could put RV's face on it.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

IMO the coolest thing Rashad could do to make him beloved by the fan base (even more so) is to get access to a microphone, walk out to center court at halftime, tell everyone who doesn't know who he is and commit on the spot. The electricity in an already jazzed up Hilton would be unbelievable.

So true, even if he just did it for the hype and ended up changing his mind, if it got the crowd all crazy and we won, it'd have been worth it.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think if we have Bubu, this would have been our best year. We always start off slow and having that experience at PG would have been huge. Not really possible to compare when the season hasn't even started but the expectations are highest this year heading into the season; anything short of a tourney bid will be a medium to large disappointment.

I don't know that the signs weren't allowed, meaning against NCAA rules or anything like that. I think it was more that Scott Drew cried about it so Hoiberg/Pollard/some other ISU official decided to have the signs removed. Maybe this is somewhat of a grey area since Cyclone Alley is affiliated with ISU.

I'm guessing they just didn't know what ShowtimeMr meant, which is why that sign stayed.

Either way, even if signs are taken way, they did what they were intended to do.

I tweeted at Cyclone Alley last year about needing to have signs for RV, and their response was something along the lines of we can't because we are affiliated with the university and it's a violation. With that I just assumed any RV signs that included his name were some form of violation. Though I have heard the Scott Drew story and find it veeeeeery easy to believe.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

You went to Iowa State last weekend for the Iowa State-Baylor game. It looked like you got showered with love ...
It was crazy. The fans were chanting. I stayed the night. The game was amazing. It was fun down there.
I saw the tweets and the pictures of all the signs. They went all out so much so that the Baylor coach had signs removed
They had Fat Heads, signs, and one of their quarterbacks was tweeting at me. I was shocked. It was fun.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Do you think people that live in Vegas are really that tuned in to recruits living there that might attend UNLV?

If I was living it Vegas I'd pretty much have a one track mind of what games are they currently spreading at Bellagio.

I dont know where I read/heard this, but UNLV basketball is something Las Vegas is actually very interested in. I'm guessing their successful teams in the 80s/90s have created a somewhat loyal following in a town that doesn't have many sports teams that represent them on a national level.

But on a large scale, I'm assuming not nearly as passionate or involved as Iowa State fans (especially with Fred at the helm).

Point taken, but please do not taint this optimistic RV thread with a bunch of polarizing, now pointless, Bubu BS.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Findlay Prep head coach has nicknamed Rashad "Vo-Show". That would be a good option for a sign at the Mich game. (Along with ShowtimeMr, etc.)

Would be cool but honestly has this ever happened in college athletics? Most athletes announce their decision at their school with family and friends in attendance. Would be pretty awesome but with that said I bet a good majority of fans in attendance dont follow recruiting like the fanatics do.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So just a quick questions, what are the qualifications to make these crystal ball predictions? I love the votes and everything but some of these people look like there in high school

It varies but you can judge their predictions based on their past predictions as to whether or not they are credible. The director of basketball scouting for 247 Jerry Meyer has picked ISU, that has to count for something.

Would that mean fans outside of the student section would be able to bring in signs with his name?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Lets hope KU gets Oubre and UNC gets Johnson. That would really put ISU in a great position
