Yup, Celtics will and should trade Rondo this season. He's a great PG, but has only this year and next left on his contract and then will be looking for a huge payday. C's won't be remotely good enough to compete by then so won't make sense to keep him then anyhow.

Trade him this season for best rookies/draft picks they can get.

With the type of talent coming out after next year...how can you not?

Trade him for only draft picks, load your team with the youngest, cheapest guys you can find, and JUST LOSE BABY! Fight until the very end for the most lottery balls you can get.

Celtics can carry 15 players if they want which is the NBA max.

" Babb, who appeared in five preseason games (tops among the invites), provides an extra body at the swingman spots as Boston navigates these final days of the preseason. With Gerald Wallace
sitting out practice after receiving a cortisone shot in his left ankle, Babb can help fill reps before the team breaks for the weekend.

His fate after that?

"We’ll get into that over the weekend and figure that out, but I think at the end of the day, all those guys did a great job while they were here and Babb continues to do a great job for us," said Stevens.

The Celtics have 14 guaranteed contracts for a total value of approximately $71.2 million. The luxury tax line is $71.75 million, which would seemingly give the team a tiny bit of room if it desired to carry a rookie like Babb on a minimum deal to start the season. "

No bone about good talent coming out, but a top draft choice only gets a replacement. The key though is you pay them rookie money.

Speaking of money, does not Royce still get his guaranteed rookie salary despite not being on a squad opr in D League? Who pays? Houston or Philly?

" He will now go through waivers, at which point the remaining 29 teams will have the chance to pick up the rest of his contract. Philadelphia is still on the hook for the $1.72 million on White's contract for the 2013-14 season if no team chooses to bring him in. "

Philly is on the hook for the cap hit, but I think Houston is actually paying the salary as that was part of the trade.

Philadelphia 76ers didn't have much interest in Royce White, per report - SBNation.com

It looks like you are correct. future considerations and cash ?
So is Royce a free agent at this point since he's being released by 76ers. Maybe the Rockets still have his contract and were just leasing him out :twitcy:

(sorry I guess were getting into Babb's thread and Royce has his own here:

The future consideration is supposed to be a fairly decent Euro big I think.

So they could pay Babb $550,000 a year and keep him? I'd take that.

Yes you can have 15 players under contract and 12 or 13 in uniform on the bench. The other two guys in suits sitting at the end of the bench.

The big Euro is going to the 76ers as well, he was basically the bribe the Rockets threw in for the 76ers to take Royce's cap hit off their hands.

Somewhere in the U.S.
If you are interested.......according to the NBADL schedule Babb and his Maine Red Claws teammates will be playing the Iowa Energy on the following dates in Des Moines:

December 27th 7 p.m.
December 28th 7 p.m.
January 23rd 7 p.m.
April 4th 7 p.m.

This seems a little strange because the schedule shows that Maine plays Iowa 4 times in Iowa, but Iowa never goes to Maine. But, that is what both schedules say, and the NBADL scheduling is a little strange, so........

If you don't live in Iowa, but have another D-League team nearby, here is a link to the Red Claws full schedule:

In the recent CF interviews of the players, did anyone else see Babb poke his head out of the door behind Georges during his interview at the practice facility? I'm curious, during the season, are any former players like that allowed to practice with the team? My guess is no, but that doesn't mean they can't play in additional pickup games I imagine. Regardless, it is always nice to see former players still hanging around our program at different times.
