This one will be a nailbiter for sure. Win or lose the guys will get a good test early in the season that helps them focus and grow at a faster pace. I have to predict an ISU victory 82-79. Our defense is much better than many realize even with a few lapses on coverage.

Way up there
I don't know if I'd go so far as to predict a win @BYU, but the way we won yesterday makes me optimistic about our chances. It's not like we got super-hot and pulled out a lucky one against Michigan. We just played well and won, if that makes any sense. Different situation on the road, obviously, but I do think this team is pretty mentally tough.

I agree, heck we shot very poor from 3 and went what 10 minutes without Niang down the stretch and still won. On the road is a different story, you expect guys like Ejim, Niang and Kane to maintain that mental toughness. Seeing how Long, Hogue, Thomas and Morris react to their first big road trip will be the key. If we get games like we did from Long ang Hogue out of any combo of those 4 guys, we will be very tough to beat. I think BYU gives us fits but we win in an sloppy one. 77-72

If we beat BYU...

UMKC at home
Auburn at home
UNI in Des Moines
Iowa at home
Diamond Head Classic (not a particularly strong field)
NIU at home
Texas Tech on the road
Baylor at home
Oklahoma on the road

I am drunk on Kool-Aid right now, but there's more than a small chance that we'll be favored in every game leading up to Kansas' visit to Hilton on Big Monday.

BYU looked good in that Stanford game, and they're pretty talented. They got a Top 50 guy, and have some Top 150 guys that did their missions and are grown men. Davies was talented, but their offense looks better now that they aren't trying to force it in to him. And like most ISU teams, this one is going to have to prove itself on the road before I give them too much credit.

I think we drop a close one, but look solid the whole way. Maybe miss a last second shot or something. Either way, I think we come away feeling great about where the team is at, and are set up very nicely for the remainder of the season.

Is Haws playing? Looking through twitter, there was some pessimistic BYU fans saying doubtful?

We shot 6-20, not terrible by any means. One more three, and we're at 35%, which I would expect to be about our average this year.

Somewhere in the U.S.
ISU can win, no doubt, but it is a tough venue for visiting teams. I hope our guys are in good condition, because this could be similar to going to Colorado in the old days. ISU seemed to always struggle or lose there. Even the 99-00 team lost there in overtime.

Not quite as high of an altitude as Colorado, but still a hell of a lot thinner air than Iowa. Hopefully, CFH will remember his NBA games visiting Utah and Denver. I think it will be key to get the players some rest in the first half. It seems like the ISU teams used to crap out in the second halves at Colorado.

If our guys can play tough defense like we did the last 5 minutes of the Michigan game we will be in good shape. BYU scores a lot but they also give up a lot of points. (78 per). I like our chances with this game if we have a defensive mindset. ISU 82 BYU 74

On the day after a great win, six of the first 10 posts are for a loss to BYU (or a fear of a loss). :skeptical:

Are their bigs better than Notre Dame last year? Can their guards play defense on ours?

We win going away in a shootout because of our hustle on the boards and for loose balls!

This!

Until proven otherwise I believe we win.

A match-up of undefeated Top 10s for the lead in the Big 12. Pour me some more Kool Aid.

Some day we will stop looking at height down low and realize our frontcourt is not outmatched, especially this season with Hogue, Ejim, and Kane cleaning up the glass.

No way Fred allows them to come out flat after Sunday. Right back to work and win a shootout 93-84.

Anybody notice how many free throws were shot in the Stanford/BYU game. Holy crap.

I think our guys showed yesterday & Dickie V mentioned it as well, how well we moved our feet and did not reach.
Gotta continue that. Foul count was low.

Tough place to play, BYU traditionally a strong basketball program... We have so few true road tests before conference play, so this type of game is badly needed. Because you know come March, Jerry Palm and the other pundits will talk about true road wins. Great chance here.

Hopefully, Melvin's knee feels good. If we can get Thomas and Morris going I think we win. I will predict we do, as i have had my kool aid, ISU 84 BYU 76.

Also, we are much better defensively.

Love the optimism from some but I just feel this young of a team will struggle on the road a bit. Clones lose a heartbreaker 82-78
