Somewhere in the U.S.
Kansas is a lot more beatable now than they will be 6 weeks from now. They had to replace their core, so it will take some time to come together. That is the big advantage I think Iowa will have over a lot of teams this year. They are returning all but one and got those extra practices in with the NIT run and the trip overseas. That is going to be a huge benefit to them, especially early in the season. ISU can beat them at Hilton, but it won't be easy. I think it will be a great game.

They also played a better team yesterday
This^^^. UTEP is not very good. New Mexico State has already beat them....twice. Regardless....watching KU now, and from what I have seen so far, if I was to rank the Big 12 right now.....the top five would be OSU-ISU-Baylor-KU-OU. Now I know it's early and these games in November and December don't mean a whole heck of a lot, but they don't look like conference winners let alone #2 in the country.

Clearly but the reality of it is that they are somewhere in the middle of today and yesterday. they aren't as bad as people said they were yesterday and they aren't as good as people are making them out to be today.

And you can tell all of this like 5 games into the season? Its November basketball you derp

KU shooting 2/8 from 3 right now, it's not that they're making a low percentage, but they aren't even shooting them.
Makes them pretty easy to guard IMO.

yeah, if they don't get that worked out they could be in for a disappointing year. They'll overwhelm some teams with their defensive speed and athleticism but if they want to do anything in the dance they'd better find a shooter or two.

Excited for this game. Both teams should be ranked in the top 15 and undefeated. The crowd will be electric. Should be a fun game.

We still don't know enough about Iowa to proclaim that they are a good team. They haven't played anybody. Best team they played is a bad Xavier team, and looked terrible. UTEP is pure garbage. Game against Villanova should give us more information. It's easy to think that they are a good team when they beat up on a team that is as bad as UTEP, but you have to put it in perspective with how awful their schedule has been so far. Based on where we are currently at, I put the most weight on their performance versus Xavier. That may change after the Villanova game, but that is TBD.

With their depth of experienced players that can play, I think it's safe to assume they're a good team. How good is the question. Knowing Marble carried them with 30 pts. one game, then they blow someone out the next game with him only scoring 6 pts. is all you need to know, imo. Not sure if them beating Villanova will prove just how good they are either, as they coasted thru UTEP and are well-rested with their depth unlike Villanova who was in a battle in the late game.

I've thought all along that the key to this Iowa team is RDM's consistency. I figured he would sort that issue out, but it doesn't look like he has. If White et al. can produce like they did tonight, then it won't matter as much.

The reason why they didn't need RDM is because they were getting out in transition the whole game and UTEP was terrible in getting back in transition. Force them into their half court offense and there screwed without a good game from RDM.

UTEP was terrible getting back in transition?? Surprised to hear that from a Floyd coached team. Did Iowa play more zone or more man-to-man vs. them?

Lets see how Iowa does against Nova. If they beat them tonight, then yes, both teams should be undefeated when we play.

It was a very un-Floyd like defense effort from utep. I had to keep making sure it was him on the sideline and not Wayne Morgan.

I think we do know enough about Iowa to realize they are a good team. They could very well be the toughest team we'll play in the non conference after it's all said and done, with the possible exception of BYU because we had to play them in a hostile environment. Michigan isn't looking all that great anymore.

I still get this feeling that Niang and Ejim will get into foul trouble against Iowa, which will mean it probably will come down to how we hit our 3's again. Last year we couldn't hit them, and Iowa won. It is a MUST to keep Niang and Ejim out of foul trouble. And we will have to find a way to break their pressure too.

It's not likely going to be as easy of a game as some on here think. Iowa is pretty deep and play pretty tough defense. I'm still not impressed with their offensive skill players in the half court besides Marble. If we don't let them get out and run, they become very beatable. Aaron White can't score in the half court.

I like our chances, but it will be a very tough game. And I hate that. I want Iowa to be really bad. Unfortunately they aren't.

Iowa is a good team, and they like to get out in transition like us. They have length, but are not as athletic as us. It will be a tough hard fought game, but its in Hilton. I gotta give us the nod, and I'm pretty confident in that prediction. ISU has two big boy wins, and proved they can take games away from good teams. Iowa will come into a hostile environment against equal competition for the first time this year. Should be a good one.
